One Month Challenges
« on: September 23, 2018, 09:01:38 AM »
In an effort to change some habits, I'm going to challenge myself to focus on a habit for one month.  Each month, I'll pick a new habit to focus on.

October - track every expense

Going forward, I'd like to have a no-spend month, no alcohol month, exercise everyday month, eat out of the pantry/freezer month, etc.

Anyone want to join in?

I'll start with a simpler challenge. No more buying Pepsi from the school vending machine. I usually buy about 4/week. Need to stop this for a couple of reasons. 1) not good for me and 2) I can reallocate that money to something else of greater importance (4 sodas @ 1.25/week * 40 weeks = 200 savings each year!)

I'm in! I rely too much on Mint to tell me what I'm spending, and I'm a little shocked by how little I've saved this year (in my defence, I had some health issues and was off work for two months... but still).

Are you going to be using a spreadsheet, or do you have some fancy app I should get? :)

I've started to do this the past few months (really just since August). Its been really interesting to itemize all purchases. Not just $×× at the grocery, but every item's cost. It has made me much more aware.

I am using a simple excel spreadsheet

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
