One month at a Goal Time- Goals for March!
« on: February 28, 2018, 02:50:58 PM »
So our fearless leader, soccerluvof4, hasn't logged on this month and I'm enjoying this monthly focus.  So I thought I'd get the thread started so folks can post their March goals.  I'll be back later as I need to get out the door asap.

How does one do this:   Beat our budget. For January came in 400$ and change under. Want to do better this month. /Killed it by most ever coming in just under 3k below our budget.
That's awesome. First step would be to have a budget (and income) somewhat over 3k though. Way out of our reach! ;-)

March Goals

Read 1 book. 3/12 for the year that are new reads.
Continue drawing 2-3 times a week.
Work on other study course 2x per week.
Self-study painting: complete a minimum of 3 lessons each in acrylics and watercolors. Or actually get started.

Cut sweets (max 2 days/week).
Running 3x per week (follow schedule). Run 5k on March 17.
Alcohol reserved for 1-2 nights a week.
Walk dog 1x per week.
Decluttering the house....again.

Write or call friends.
Finalize plans to visit favorite uncle.
Read one classic kids novel to the kids.
Playing board games with kids at least once a week.

Finalize Phase 2 of our business expansion.

I simplified my goals a bit this month. They should be achievable but keep me on track for a few things. Trying to find that sweet spot between progress and too much.

I have even more intensive eldercare coming up for March so I want to focus on just 2 foundational goals:

1. knee physio exercises twice a day every day
2. walking outside everyday for at least 30 minutes.

My Feb goals and progress:

1. Walk outside for 30 minutes most days - on track
2. Keep up with knee physio exercises at least every other day - every 3rd day
3. Go on one fun activity date with DH - went out for pho :)
4. Get together at least once with a friend - done - treated friend to birthday breakfast
5. Clean out medicine cabinet (part of very satisfying small job project.) - not done but must do for March
6. Read 4 books. - read 8 (4 mysteries)

Good luck all!

Here we go:

Financial:
-Keep dining out to $150
-Stay in budget for a long weekend I'm having with my Mom & Sister
-Pay for plans on house remodel, so we can get a finalized budget & timeline, and make prioritizations
-Come up with one way to reduce what we need/spend on an ongoing basis
-Earn another $400 in sidehustle money. Split this between college money for the kids, & an extra payment on our vacation house mortgage.
-Solve final tax issue & finalize paperwork

Family:

-Have one family evening together: cooking dinner, board games, etc
-Have a date night with my husband
-Continue financial help (knowledge, not money) with sister & friend
-Determine budget for adults only vacation

Fitness/health:
-Complete another full round of 21 Day Fix
-Eat 5.5 servings a day of fruit & veggies
-Lose 4 pounds
-Run at least 8 times

Work:
-Work from home 1 day
-Take two classes that I need for a work opportunity

Personal/creative:
-Make one new recipe
-Spend time with a friend
-Volunteer at least 1x
-Write for at least 4 hours on personal stuff

I modified my goals above. Trip to visit family is on hold indefinitely for medical reasons. And I removed one other goal after deciding it wasn't currently important to focus on.

It's almost like I only wanted to write things that I would not accomplish this month. This month has been rough and I've compensated by letting meal planning take a backseat to my junk food eating, excessive food spending and lack of running or creativity. So...here's to trying again on a smaller scale next month!

Financial:
-Keep dining out to $150 - yes, achieved this!
-Stay in budget for a long weekend I'm having with my Mom & Sister - super close. Was about $20 over. Calling this a win.
-Pay for plans on house remodel, so we can get a finalized budget & timeline, and make prioritizations - 1/2 way done
-Come up with one way to reduce what we need/spend on an ongoing basis - yes, came up with a rain storage solution
-Earn another $400 in sidehustle money. Split this between college money for the kids, & an extra payment on our vacation house mortgage. - yes, made $416!
-Solve final tax issue & finalize paperwork - all done. Waiting to sign.

Family:
-Have one family evening together: cooking dinner, board games, etc - yep, had a poporn/movie party
-Have a date night with my husband - no, but have something scheduled for next Friday
-Continue financial help (knowledge, not money) with sister & friend- yes!
-Determine budget for adults only vacation - budget is set

Fitness/health:
-Complete another full round of 21 Day Fix- yes!
-Eat 5.5 servings a day of fruit & veggies - I was at 4.9/day. Almost
-Lose 4 pounds - I lost 1 lb, and continue to notice strength & toning progress.
-Run at least 8 times - had a minor injury that kept me sidelined for a few weeks, so ended with 3.

Work:
-Work from home 1 day - yes
-Take two classes that I need for a work opportunity - nope, work got crazy

Personal/creative:
-Make one new recipe - made a new chicken fried rice recipe
-Spend time with a friend - yes
-Volunteer at least 1x - signed up for 2 things in April, but nothing in March
-Write for at least 4 hours on personal stuff - nope

All in all, mostly wins. March turned out to be quite a bit crazier than I'd planned, so I'm happy with how things went. On to April!
