Challenge yourself!
« on: September 15, 2012, 08:52:30 PM »
This will kind of fall into Skinnyneo's post about getting a street team together, but as a culture the US carries as many excess pounds as it does debt.  This does not need to be the case.  In January I started to run for the first time and I ran my first race which was a marathon in May.  I did this because it was a challenge to me.  Everyone has their own level of fitness, but I challenge each and everyone of you to get to a state where you are healthy and active so you can enjoy FI!  My next big challenge will be an Ironman and I'm aiming for Ironman Wisconsin 2014.

Fit or unfit, challenge yourself and proclaim your big fitness goal for MMM to see! (AND JOIN OUR RACETEAM!!!!!!)

Congrats Cooperstown!  Just wanted to say that you'll LOVE Wisconsin IM!  (It was my first of two.)  There's nothing like the feeling of crossing that finish line.  Ironman puts on the best events and the volunteers are amazing.  It's worth every penny and pain to get there. Hope you enjoy your experience!!!

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it, although I have a colleague who has described it as "Sadistic" do the bike course lol

Oh and congrats on your two!  What was the other one you did?

That's a good description.  I remember the hills in WI as being long.  It's a beautiful course though.  Louisville was my other one--lots of hills there but more rolling.  Louisville is also a blast, especially if you don't mind the heat.  You probably already know to sign up early for WI--it fills up fast.

Best of luck with your training!

Yeah, you pretty much have to sign up to volunteer the year before so you can register before it opens up online.  I think it filled up by 4pm the day it opened this year.

I am a competitive indoor rower and my challenge is to score another gold medal after taking a year off to finish school and to head to the world championships in Boston in February.

Excellent!  I love fitness challenges.

Cooperstown -- your first race was a marathon?!  Wow!  And now an Ironman?  Impressive.

Melissa -- that sounds incredible!  Let us know how it goes - World Championships... wow.  Since I started rowing at Crossfit, I've determined it to be one of the hardest things to do, particularly mentally.  Also, I suck and am a really slow rower, so that doesn't help.  :)

My crossfit goals are to get my muscle up back (I've only done about 5 in my life) and deadlift twice my bodyweight.  I'd also like to run a 5K or 10K at some point soon.  I think there are some Thanksgiving races in my neighborhood, so maybe I'll check it out and sign up.

Good luck everyone!
