no more cigarettes
« on: March 13, 2013, 03:41:42 PM »
Yes. I was a smoker. For the past 30+ years, on 15 a day ( and off for just 1 year).

Now clean 11 days, and enjoying being able to breath.

We'll be saving around $3000 a year, plus all the other benefits.
- after 2months significant improved lung function, lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol.
- 5 years, same stroke risk as non smoker
- 10 years same heart disease risk as non smoker
- 15 years almost same lung cancer risk as non smoker

It is definitely not Mustashian to smoke. Thanks for helping.

Damn, way to go Mark. Keep it up! Did you just go cold turkey or are you using patches/gum/electronic cigarettes?

Keep it up!

I quit in 07 after 20+ years.  I know it's not easy but it's worth it.

That's awesome.  Best of Luck Mr. Mark.

Quit myself two years ago (after 25 years).  Never looked back.  And neither will you, I'm certain of it.

What's your plan to stay clean?

Congrats on quitting! March 3rd was my one year tobacco free anniversary. It is so awesome to be free of smoking. I am so excited for you. Now I just need to get off of the Personal Vaporizers (aka e-cigs). Actually not in too big of a rush to quit ecigs, just gradually cutting back on the nicotine.

Great job!

I quit March 3 two years ago.  Weird.

Almost 4 weeks now. So far, so good! Focus: breathing, air, not dying of lack of air, or breathing. Working so far. Thank you so much for the expressions of support. It helps. :-)

That's great! Keep up the good work! I'm trying to convince my dad to stop smoking too but no amount of logic/emotional blackmail can convince somebody without the self-motivation... he's been smoking since he was 13 (he's 51 now).

Maybe if he quit for just a week, he'd see the same benefits you did.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
