Title: Motorcycle Jacket
Post by: andy.LtD on February 16, 2015, 06:03:18 AM
Anyway I have a great old jacket, my wife said "throw it out ". I bought a Dainese back protector off eBay, for $15 instead of $100+ and am sewing a pocket in my old jacket so I can reuse jacket in summer,  a bit of elbow protection and good to go.

Saving money around $160  maybe

Is the "old jacket" a motorcycle jacket?

Personally I wouldn't sew a back protector into an ordinary jacket and call it a motorcycle jacket.

I've been down on a bike before and having the shoulder and elbow protectors in a true motorcycle jacket saved me quite a bit of injury.

I try to ride "all the gear all the time". Having low sided on a sandy turn one time years ago, I learned that even at low speed having full gear on can save you from having paramedics getting gravel out of your wounds with a wire brush.

yup, that's a choice.

I ride with a paralyzed arm, however a lot of journeys I don't break 30 mph so thought I could be on a push bike at those speeds so thought for these slow journeys this will suffice.

I put my "proper gear " on when doing more than 30 mph.

But thanks for advice
