You peeps - I'm gone for a week or so (life has been insanely busy) and I was shocked just how much I had to catch up on!!  So glad so many folks are still hanging in there :)

A belated report on last Friday's weigh-in.

Friday weigh-in:

Jan 1: 139.6 lbs...Jan 6: 137.8 lbs....Jan 13: 139.2 lbs...Jan 20: 138 lbs.....Jan 27: 139.2 lbs
Feb 3: 138.6 lbs...Feb 10: 142 lbs.....Feb 17: 141.2 lbs...Feb 23: 140.4 lbs
Mar 3: 140.2 lbs...Mar 13: 144.6 lbs..Mar 16: 143.8 lbs...Mar 23: 140.8 lbs..Mar 30: 141.2 lbs
Apr 7: 139.2 lbs...Apr 14: 139.2 lbs..Apr 21: 138.4 lbs...Apr 28: 139.6 lbs
May 5: 136.6 lbs..May 12: 135 lbs....May 19: 135.7 lbs...May 26: 135.8 lbs
Jun 2: 135.4 lbs

Start weight: 139.6 lbs
Weight lost: 4.2 lbs
Goal weight: 130 lbs

I spent about 2 weeks wavering between eating a lot and eating in my normal "diet" mode. Lots of indulgence and it showed in the numbers as I mostly maintained. At that time, it felt right. Now, I am a bit annoyed as I slowed my progress for 2 weeks.

That said, this week I have been more watchful again and sticking to "normal" food and this morning I weighed in at 133.4!! I was SUPER excited.

I have realized that I have my big vacation to Disney in mid August. I have started shopping for outfits for my daughter (for a few bucks from thrift stores - I'm still Mustachian!). I also want to buy some new-to-me outfits - but do NOT want to do it until I lose some more weight. I've noticed a sharp difference in the way clothes fit me between 130lbs and 135 lbs - must be the point where I move between sizes. So I won't shop until I get around 130 lbs. I need to do this by mid July to give me enough time to shop. So now I am on a timeline for losing weight. Wonder if the pressure will be good for me?

I am still eating out here and there and having treats - but do admit I do include some occasional starving methods - lunch for the past 2 days have been an avocado. And then a handful of pistachios for a snack later. It's not as bad as it sounds - I promise. I'm only 5ft tall so only get 1200 cals a day when losing weight. Which means lunch is usually 300-400 calories. An avocado is about 160 cals + another 100 cals in pistachios. And this is mixed in with several 600-1000 calorie meals during the week.

Activity levels remain high. On the plus side, I'm seeing definite improvement. I mostly bike to work but occasionally I walk. Last year, it regularly took me 75-90 mins. This morning, it took me just 65 mins and I kept it at a relaxed, easy pace! I was so pleased :) Hopefully this means I will be OK for my crazy EIGHT hour adventure race THIS SATURDAY!! Excited and a bit nervous. This is supposed to be my "rest week" but it worked out best logistically for me to walk this morning so I figured it would be OK since I kept it to an easy pace.

Friday Weigh-In:

Start Date: Feb 24: 155.4 lbs
March 3:    154 lbs
March 10: 151.6
March 17: 150.6
March 24: 150.2
April 3: 149.4
April 7: 148.2
April 14: 147.8
April 21: 147.2
April 28: 147.2
May 8: 143.8
May 13: 145
May 25: 144
June 2: 143.8
June 9: 143.6
June 16: 142.8

I finally got below 143 but it just doesn't feel like a success right now.

My goal is 140 and I had considered aiming for 135 as a stretch but I honestly don't think I have it in me. I am hungry ALL OF THE TIME!  I think the 135 is just a dream and I've always had doctors who recommend that weight for me but it is just not going to happen.

It is starting to get hot here now and that usually suppresses my appetite so I'm going to hang in a few more weeks and see if it makes a difference. Otherwise I may call it maintenance at 142 (which is a weight I maintained so easily before children, ahh well).

@elaine amj - good luck on your race!

@Crystal1588 - good luck! We have almost the same stats and 145 is where it got hard for me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is easier for you.

@frugal lizard - your post sounds so wise. Sometimes it isn't about hitting goal, just keeping things from falling apart :)

@izybat and @wintertell - hope the struggling has passed for you all!

@rpr - all that walking sounds lovely and you get to walk to the Ocean! My dream is to be within walking distance of a large body of water. I find water to be so incredibly soothing. I'm within walking of a large-ish river right now and it is my favorite place I've ever lived :)

@starbright maintenance after losing THIRTEEN pounds is absolutely nothing to sneeze at. Stop for a bit to congratulate yourself on an amazing job :) I plan to call it quits before my ideal weight. It will be nice to drop to 125 lbs - but we will see. When I hit 130 last year, I liked the way I looked overall (yes, plenty of lumps and my belly was still big but overall I looked reasonably slim) and felt good. It was also a relatively easy weight to maintain.

Friday weigh-in:

Jan 1: 139.6 lbs...Jan 6: 137.8 lbs....Jan 13: 139.2 lbs...Jan 20: 138 lbs.....Jan 27: 139.2 lbs
Feb 3: 138.6 lbs...Feb 10: 142 lbs.....Feb 17: 141.2 lbs...Feb 23: 140.4 lbs
Mar 3: 140.2 lbs...Mar 13: 144.6 lbs..Mar 16: 143.8 lbs...Mar 23: 140.8 lbs..Mar 30: 141.2 lbs
Apr 7: 139.2 lbs...Apr 14: 139.2 lbs..Apr 21: 138.4 lbs...Apr 28: 139.6 lbs
May 5: 136.6 lbs..May 12: 135 lbs....May 19: 135.7 lbs...May 26: 135.8 lbs
Jun 2: 135.4 lbs...June 9: 134 lbs.....Jun 16: 131.8 lbs

Start weight: 139.6 lbs
Weight lost: 7.8 lbs
Goal weight: 130 lbs

YOU GUYS! I just about bounced off the ceiling when I stepped on the scale this morning! I know it's just a low and my real weight is about 1+ lbs higher but still - I was blown away. I had been hoping for it to say 133 lbs and was shocked to see 131.8 lbs!

And then of course, today is a big eating day. My 8 hr adventure race is tomorrow so I am in carb-loading mode. Still, I'll burn it all off tomorrow - I'll be surviving off nuts, granola bars, and energy bites. As a side note, just made a batch of high calorie energy bites yesterday and they were YUMMY! Filled with all kinds of good stuff like shredded coconut, oats, protein powder, peanut butter, wheat germ, flaxseed, pecans, dried cranberries and then some cocoa powder, honey and chocolate chips for good measure :) Hope my kids don't eat them all before my race!

I think it's any step in the right direction of changing your lifestyle and being more healthy is awesome. Little changes yield huge results over the long haul. It's a marathon not a sprint!

I think everyone is doing fantastic and I find this thread to be so inspiring!

Now for my update, a little late

Starting weight on 4/17: 165
5/15: 151
5/22: 149
6/5: 147
6/13: 145 lbs

My initial goal is 140 and my stretch goal is 135. We'll see how hard it is to lose the last 5-10!

Damn you lost 20 pounds in 2 months? That's lightning fast!!

Weight Log
12/6/16  ~265
1/7/17      256.4
2/3/17      251.6
3/10/17    242.2
4/7/17      235.8
4/19/17    232.8
5/4/17      230.0 (-2.8)
6/12/17    227.2 (-2.8)
6/19/17    224.6 (-2.6)

Total Loss: 40.4 lbs
Total Percent: 15.2%

An update -- I'm finally, finally back on track and am seeing results. I've been counting calories, cooking at home, avoided eating out and going on frequent walks. Nothing fancy, just the basics.

I'm still eating paleo-ish -- maybe 75-80% paleo. I still have occasional treats that involve sugar. I also am experimenting with beans and whole, unprocessed grains such as quinoa and farro, to see if I can handle those. Right now, it seems they make me feel fuller for longer, but also are causing my digestion to seriously slow down. I've cut out most diary except for cream in my coffee in the morning.

I cleaned out my closet this weekend. I'm finally down a full size, to a size 20. Previously I was just about to bump out of a size 22 into a 24. This is the size I was in college, so I haven't needed to buy anything yet.

What was driving my funk was unhappiness about not making progress on finding a new job. So, I am working on switching up my routine to make time every day for job searching. It just took a while to figure out how to do that while also making time for health stuff. Both are now important to me.

Happy to report that Saturday's race went really well! All my training paid off big time. My one teammate wasn't able to train as much (health issues + too much going on at the time) so we worked around what she could handle. It was a really fun race with my 2 best friends so we had a ball. We stopped after 6 hours and ended up on a good note. They adjusted the race format this year and we were able to pick and choose which sections we wanted to complete - which worked out great for our team. Added lots of funny stories to our collection (including my losing my shoe in the mud!), a few more scars to my legs and lots of fantastic memories.

I ate out for both lunch and dinner yesterday. Between that and muscle repair (at least that's what I hope lol!), I am up a pound today - so 132.6 lbs. I am pretty sure sticking to my plans will drop the weight again this week. I am sooooo close to my goal of 130 lbs!!

I took last week off from working out to rest up - stuck to just mild bike commuting all week. I'm actually itching to getting back to regular evening workouts - I kinda miss it! Hopefully I can keep it up a few times a week even without having a big event to train for.

Isn't it amazing how just the basics produce such amazing results? And yes, weight loss is such a mental game. When your head is in it, it's easy. When your emotions are all over the place, nothing seems to work. You're rocking this - and the job search too!

Nice job with the weight loss wintertell! Congrats elaine amj on the race!

I ate absolutely horribly all weekend. Today I am paying for it, and last night my stomach was hurting from all the rich food. I need to get back to my routine asap! I clocked in on the scale this morning at 131.8 (posting that for accountability even though it's not an official weigh day), and that is NOT ok by me. So. Here I am, and here I will stay.

I've been struggling to find the time to exercise when it feels like there are not enough hours in the day. Work, parenting two littles, and trying to find time in the evening after they go to bed to run a side gig means that unfortunately fitness has been pushed to the backburner for over a year.

I FINALLY realized that the answer lies in getting up early. I usually go on my phone before bed for at least half an hour. Last night I cut that out, and woke up an hour earlier than usual (5:30 gulp). Then went for a run/walk. My goal is now to do that 2-3 times a week in good weather. Make it a habit. Then at the end of the day I don't have to dread finding time and energy to exercise.

Any other early morning exercisers? I should add that I am NOT a morning person, and I LOVE sleep. My husband didn't think I would do it, that bugger. I dragged my butt out of bed at least 50% out of spite.

I am in awe of you. I'm not a morning person either. And the whole getting off the phone before bed will definitely save a ton of time for more productive things.

I'm not an early morning exerciser: 9-10 is my best window, I've found. It gives me some time for breakfast to sit, but not so long that I get hungry again. I get up at 5:30, but work on other things.

On another note, I'm jealous of your nice weather. The weather has made running outside less pleasant than treadmill running since the beginning of April. I'm getting cabin fever, and it probably won't get better for three months.

On the bright side, I'm traveling to Ontario in a couple weeks :) Hopefully it won't be the middle of a heat wave when I get there.

I am not a morning exerciser, but I realized that the only way I was going to apply for jobs at night during the week is if I got some more time back. So today was Day 1 of an early morning walk; tomorrow will be Day 2. I LOVE sleep and HATE getting up early, but I also want a new job. So #priorities, have to make time for all the things, and so I am setting my phone early and going for a walk in the morning.

ha, yes it came off quickly. BUT. I radically changed my lifestyle all at once. I was eating a ton of sweets, bread and general crap day in and day out. Not exercising pretty much at all (other than chasing after 3 little ones). Now, I'm eating no bread, tons of veggies, very very little processed sugar and going for a 30-45 minute brisk walk every night. I'm also breastfeeding my 7 month old which I think helps. In the beginning a lot of it was water weight but now it's coming off at about 2 lbs/week.

Progress update:
6/5: 147
6/13: 145 lbs

6/19: 143 lbs

Haha elaine amj, yes that was it exactly. :)

I have found that I do better in short increments. Like if I say I'm going to eat healthy/lose weight/exercise or whatever, I have to put an end date on it. Then when I get there, I start over with a new date in the future. Currently, my sister is pregnant and due in August, at which time I will travel to where they live and visit. That is my short term goal (1/2 to 1 lb per week until then). Once I get there, I will probably bump it out to CMC or Christmas, or whatever next event it is. For me, they can only be a few months in advance, and usually have to involve seeing/meeting people I don't see all the time (something I want to look good for). YMMV but I thought I would share what seems to work best for me.

Good point. My current goal is to look decent for my Disney trip (with my skinny SIL lol) in August. I MUST get to 130 lbs!!!! There'll be way too many photos :)

Start weight: 139.6 lbs
Weight lost: 7.6 lbs
Goal weight: 130 lbs
(current trendweight: 133.7 lbs)

I've not been too crazy about my numbers all week. I blame muscle recovery (and maybe a wee bit of overeating LOL!) after my big 6 hour race on Saturday. I've been weighing in at about 134/135 all week. So was really careful about food intake from Monday onwards (although I was probably sneaking in a little too many extra bites of this and that). Today, I finally got my whoosh today and clocked in at 132 lbs, which I am happy with. The hard part will be not going crazy and eating a lot (which is how I often celebrate a successful number on my scale).

I'm REALLY hopeful I can drop the last 2 pounds in 2 more weeks, which is when I plan to hit a bunch of thrift stores for clothes for my August trip.

That said - we'll see how clothes fit. I'm not where I was last year yet based on fit. And trendweight shows that I'm at about 133.7 lbs. Much as I prefer looking at my actual scale, I know trendweight is pretty accurate - especially since I feel at about that weight. Which means almost FOUR pounds to go. Oh well, that's a pound less than a week ago! :)

Welp....I went on a crazy eating binge at dinner on Saturday. We hosted our home church and I was going to be sensible - prepping a nice big salad for DH and me. Unfortunately, I also decided to serve garlic bread. That was my downfall. I ate one slice and it was soooo good that before I knew it, I had eaten 3 slices. ACK! Then at midnight, I had some of my nemesis, cheese puffs - and ate THE WHOLE BAG.

*sigh* oh well. One day won't kill me so I pushed it aside and moved on. The last couple of days, I've hung in pretty steady with my weight and only gained a teeny bit from Saturday's binge.

On Sunday, DH and I rode our bikes to his office as he needed to get some stuff done. Beautiful. I'd add a 30 min bike ride + a 30 min run while he was doing it. First time I've been able to workout since my big race last Saturday. He took a bit longer than expected and I continued running while he finished up. Next thing I know, I had been running for almost an HOUR! (Never done more than 30 mins before). I was sooo thrilled. I did get him to slow wayy down on the 30 min bike ride home as I was feeling rather jelly-like after that.

So I did:
- 1.5 hr total bike riding
- 1 hr run

Have to admit I overdid it a bit. I was wiped when I got home. Had to help my son study (Grade 9 finals this week!) and I was laying on his bed snoozing while "helping".

I ate like a crazy person all weekend. Sigh.

I hear people say they eat more in the winter when they want comfort food and their bodies want to bulk up, but I think I have more trouble in the summer when ice cream, cold drinks, and bbq are looking me in the face. Oh well, at least it was only two days of badness. Hopefully I can shake it off.

From my regular experiments (all in the name of science of course!), 1-2 days really has minimal impact. Yes it still has calories and yes, it still adds up. But what makes the most difference is what you eat about 80% of the time. So time to get back to "normal eating" this week! :)

I'll add a vote that one day rarely has a huge effect. Maybe ups your weight for 3 days max.
Onwards and Downwards (ha!)

Now for my weekly progress update:
6/5: 147
6/13: 145 lbs
6/19: 143 lbs

6/26: 141 lbs

Only 1 lb away from my goal! Buttttt this week's going to be rough as we have a whole bunch of get togethers where I'm pretty sure I won't stick to the 95% healthy eating I've been doing. So, my goal is to hold steady through til next Monday and then keep the downward trend.

Cheers to a fun summer week!

WOOT!! You are SO close!!!! And I love your plan. Hold steady at maintenance this week and get back in gear next week.

I'm in the last 2-3 pounds of my 130 lb goal myself and have been getting excited. And then of course, last night (a 12:45am no less), I picked up some old college photos of myself when I hovered around 120 lbs. Then started dreaming of how cool it would be to get down to that weight again. Hard to ever be satisfied, isn't it? Oh well - my first goal is 130 lbs and with all your help, I. WILL. DO. IT!!!

Ha it's funny that you mention that. I know as soon as I hit 140, i'll have my eyes on 130. We'll see where my body plateaus. and YES you will get there! It's amazing how support can be such a motivator.

That said..Now that i've lost about 25 lbs (and after 3 kids in 4 1/2 years!), I'm finding that I'm really needing to tone up. A lot.
So,  I was thinking gym membership for group fitness classes or possibly a personal trainer (not very mustachian at all!). Anyone gone that route or just working out at home? I just want to be toned to go along with the lower weight!

I've been in a horrible mindset for the last month or so. I can't 100% place what's going wrong in my brain, which is making it that much harder to get over it and get back on track. I seem to have no mental capacity to stick to my healthy eating regime and I'd been doing so well! I've now regained about 10 pounds of the 35 that I had lost. Sigh. I hate to have to re-lose the same weight, but at this point I'd settle for being able to stop the upward progression.

Izybat - I was in your shoes just a short time ago. In December I piled on nearly 10 lbs of the 25lbs I worked so hard to lose last year. Then Jan - March struggled to lose it but got nowhere. And then something clicked. Not sure what. And I've been losing steadily (slowly though)since.

I don't really know what changed - but I'd start with not beating yourself up. Liking myself makes losing weight much easier. When I am hard on myself - I just binge eat for comfort.

I too put half of what I lost back on.  Between winter and too many self improvement goals.  I am not back to where I want to be by any means but I am ok hanging out here for a while.  I am consolidating a few habits - not drinking pop, increasing the fruits and veg intake and having a solid breakfast with protein. I like to think that I am working on the whole self.  And even just halting the pound or four year over year increase is no small success.

IMO having young children is demanding on resources (and I only had 2).  Focus on being a good enough parent.  Some smaller goals such as eating at the table with them every now and then, having outdoor fun, enjoying the world around, modelling good sleep hygiene and learning where food comes are not too hard, fill the time and are good habits to develop. They grow up quickly. Hubs and I are noticing how much less difficult and demanding they are now that they are 13 and nearly 16.  And I am now focusing on me and hubs again.

I would like to grant you "a bit of cutting yourself some slack" permission.  You have already won half the battle really - identifying a problem and deciding to change it.  It took you how to get here?  Lots of time to get to the next place.

Weight Log
12/6/16  ~265
1/7/17      256.4
2/3/17      251.6
3/10/17    242.2
4/7/17      235.8
4/19/17    232.8
5/4/17      230.0 (-2.8)
6/12/17    227.2 (-2.8)
6/19/17    224.6 (-2.6)
6/24/17    222.4 (-2.2)

Total Loss: 42.6 lbs
Total Percent: 16.1%

After a May where I was burnt out, off track and not in a good mental place, I've finally recovered. My mind is in a good place again, first and foremost. I've switched up my routine so I am now walking in the mornings before work. This means the walk gets done most days, unless I don't sleep well the night before. But then I try for a walk in the evenings when that happens.

My theory is that I'm also dropping weight fast right now because most of May was a maintenance break, eating at higher calories. I reset my metabolism so that now my body is more responsive to cutting calories. My plan is to keep doing what I am doing until the rate slows, and then I will take another break. That break was so helpful, physically and mentally!

Also, I have been much better about cutting out emotionally eating due to stress. It seems I am more aware of when it happens, and then I think about what is causing the stress. Then I try to solve the real problem rather than eat to cope. If I'm worried I upset my MIL, I will call her. If I'm stressed about work, I'll get back to work or take a walk.

I've also tried really hard to be prepared for travel - I'm packing more/better snacks for trips, I'm buying groceries to take with me on trips so I don't eat out to cover the gap where there's no food in the house, etc.

I'm going to keep doing what I am doing - Still waiting see where this latest "whoosh" settles out for a while.

Also, I am officially in a size 20! I didn't have to buy any clothes because this was my size in college. I now fit into my full college wardrobe. I went through my closet last weekend and got rid all of the 22s and 24s that are now too big. That was a great feeling : ). Plus it is easier to get dressed because all the clothes hanging up in my closet fit; the bigger clothes are waiting to get donated in a separate room.

@wintertell That's awesome! It feels soooo good to get back into clothes you've had collecting dust for a while :)

As for me - I'm super excited to report that I actually saw the magic 130 on the scale this morning!!!! (well, it was actually 130.8, but who's counting?). Been trying for this since January!! now, I know this is just a "fake" low and my actual weight is a pound or two more and it will bounce up over the next day or two. I mean, I was 132.2 lbs yesterday lol. Trendweight says I'm 133.1 lbs. But that's OK - it means I'm soooo close to my goal! Just a wee bit more to go.

I am headed out clothes shopping in 2 weeks for my big August trip. I'm now super hopeful that I can get close enough to my goal by then!

Sounds like everyone's going a bit off the rails so I'm in good company here. I ate a ridiculous amount yesterday and the weekend is not over, and I have two enormous cupcakes on the counter that I will definitely not be letting go to waste. Sigh. My weight is creeping up, and even when I don't weigh myself I can feel it on my body. I'm going to have to double down in June.

This! I think you nailed why I struggled for years with weight management (losing, then gaining again, repeat). I was raised to not waste as I suspect many Mustachians were likewise (or have since developed a strong habit to not waste).

Learning moderation was very difficult for me and I had to balance practicing moderation against my very strong desire to not waste.

Reply #1404 on January 12th in this thread documents my journey to finally achieving the balance I so longed for.

Y'ALL! For some reason I am dropping like crazy this week. I woke up this morning at 220 even on the scale, which means exactly a 45 lb loss or 17% body fat since Dec. 6th.

I've been eating my normal meals totaling up between 1750-1900 calories a day. Plus taking daily walks from 30min-1hr either in the morning or the evening. And that's it, nothing else.

I'm eating at maintenance today / making today a rest day and then will go back a deficit tomorrow. I'm interested in seeing how long this big drop will continue!

Friday Weigh-In:

Start Date: Feb 24: 155.4 lbs
March 3:    154 lbs
March 10: 151.6
March 17: 150.6
March 24: 150.2
April 3: 149.4
April 7: 148.2
April 14: 147.8
April 21: 147.2
April 28: 147.2
May 8: 143.8
May 13: 145
May 25: 144
June 2: 143.8
June 9: 143.6
June 16: 142.8
June 30: 144.6

Add me to the list of people struggling. Also, I am frustrated because I've really stepped up my exercise. I'm walking at least 40  minutes a day for the last three weeks and added 30 minutes of biking a few times a week as well. I thought it would give me the bump I need to stay at 142.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for next week. We are visiting my in-laws for the holiday and they only eat salads and trail mix so I should definitely lose a couple of pounds while there.

@wintertell Yay for the whoosh!!! It's always so exciting when it happens!

@Starbright I find when I up physical activity, I can get into my danger zone. I usually end up convincing myself I can eat a wee bit more and I get more relaxed about food intake (sometimes unconsciously). Some years ago, I was in intense training for an event and biked 2-3 hours a day 4-5 days a week. I gained weight. I can't outwalk the amount of food I can eat!

Soooo close I can taste it!!! Been holding steady in the 130s for the past 3 days!! Going to be rather relaxed about food through the weekend and then back to work next week! Hopefully I'll get rid of that final pound next week!

Plus, my theory is right. For some reason, around 131 lbs, my body shape shifts and all of a sudden, it's looks like I dropped a size compared to 133 lbs. It's so odd that is such a noticeable (to me) difference - but the same thing happened last year.

Congrats on your progress and being so close to your goal!

Possibly you built extra muscle mass? Or those last two pounds reduce body fat by that key percentage where all the muscle underneath becomes much more noticeable?

Hi everyone.  Cross posting (sort of) from the Strength and Fitness thread because it finally dawned on me - what I'm doing this this year is losing fat, that's more like the Losing Weight thread than gaining strength.  Lost 9 1/2 pounds in 4 months.  Details below.

5'8" male.  Starting points on March 1:  33% body fat, near sedentary lifestyle (former runner, got out of the habit), 166 lbs.  Had gained 20+ lbs in 3 years and was accelerating; on track for 175 lbs by end of year.

Input goal: Run 130x in 2017 (13/month).
To date: Mar 5x, Apr 5x, May 9x, June 13x.

Results goal:  Drop from 33% body fat to 30% or below.
To date:  Now 30%!

Notes:  In mid-May, joined a community track training group.  Has been helping a lot.

Well, weighed in today. I lost .2 lbs this week, which there was absolutely no reason for as I did everything wrong. Either way, I'll take it and work from here. I'm trying to get my mind right again so that I can get back on track with weight loss. Overall I've regained about 10 lbs in the last month, so now I just need to accept it, move on, and get back on track.

@financiallypossible It's one of those weird things about weight loss. Even though I believe it comes down to the simple math of Calories In - Calories Out, its true - weight loss is not linear.

@Bicycle B: Welcome!!! And congratulations on changing your lifestyle from sedentary to active! That's a pretty amazing transformation. I too was a sedentary couch potato and I am still getting blown away by the things I can do now. I like that I can still surprise myself.

@Izybat It was just a blip in the journey. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!

Hit that TOM so I was bloated and my weight swung upwards for this past week. Today, it finally dropped again and I am back to last week's weight. I was careful all week so should see another whoosh soon.

That said, its the weekend now and I always eat more. I have a lot of eating planned for the next 2 weeks due to various things I am doing. Free food at work until Tuesday and then I am off on vacation. No biggie - going to enjoy it thoroughly:) My birthday is next week and I started the celebrations tonight :)

Congrats and Happy Birthday ElaineAMJ! I started at 138 last September with the goal of getting to 130. I'm now consistently below that and have even started regularly seeing 125 even though I stopped actively tracking. It's amazing what is possible in both weight loss and finance with hard work and dedication!

So, I gained 1.4 lbs this week, all due to my crappy eating and drinking. Howeve, I'm finally (after like 5-6 weeks) feeling like I'm getting my motivation back. I think it has a lot to do with joining the Uber Frugal Month challenge, during which I plan to cut out all dining out and alcohol purchases. That should help my weight loss in a BIG way.

Weight Log
12/6/16  ~265
1/7/17      256.4
2/3/17      251.6
3/10/17    242.2
4/7/17      235.8
4/19/17    232.8
5/4/17      230.0 (-2.8)
6/12/17    227.2 (-2.8)
6/19/17    224.6 (-2.6)
6/24/17    222.4 (-2.2)
6/30/17    220 (-2.4)
7/8/17      219.6 (-.4)

Total Loss: 45.4 lbs
Total Percent: 17.1%

After huge drops the last couple of weeks, I settled in to around 220 this week. I just saw the 210s for the first time this morning! Gotta keep up the progress! Also, I went shopping last week for the 4th of July sales and was able to fill out my wardrobe with new clothes in a size 20. Yay, I am finally down to a new size! Next week is a work trip, so I am preparing as best of possible but also recognize that I might see some fluctuations on the scale next week.

@brooklynmoney Thanks :) That is so awesome that you are dropping even more than u planned. I hit diet fatigue at 130lbs last year and stopped. This time around, I am actually still feeling good so may continue for a bit more.

@Izybat There's just something that changes when u finally have the motivation. I cannot explain it - for me it is like something clicks and then suddenly it's not that hard anymore.

@wintertell Soooo awesome to buy clothes in a smaller size! I finally dropped to my preferred dress size so hit up my local thrift stores for a shopping spree yesterday! Spent about $10-15 and scored some amazing things - a couple of cute tops, a couple of cute casual shorts, and best of al - a dress that is PERFECT for today's event! I needed a stylish dress that would go from day to evening for work and could not find a dress in my closet that would work. Scored a gorgeous dress for $1 from a thrift store!!!!! Love it so much :)

February 28: 256.5
May 9:          236.4
May 23:        233.0
May 28:        236.0
June 5:         235.4

Just got back from vacation last night, and I thought my weight was going to be distressing. Actually, I wouldn't have weighed myself, but I wanted to know how much bigger my puppy has gotten (19.6 to 23 lb in the last 9 days), so I had to step on.

Last night (after dinner): 235.2. I guess it wasn't nearly so bad as I was worried it might be! Basically, I lost 20lb. really fast in March and April, then I've been fluctuating, but mostly just stuck, ever since. Fortunately it's still recent enough memory that I can appreciate how much better I feel now, which gives me some motivation.

I just try to keep other good habits on track, no matter how small, and that helps me feel like I'm in control of my life, which then leads to eating in a controlled way.

Two weeks late on my updates but...life. ha

You guys are all doing awesome!
Elaine amj: How are you figuring your trend weight? Apologies if you explained it earlier!

6/5: 147
6/13: 145 lbs
6/19: 143 lbs
6/26: 141 lbs

7/3: 140 lbs
7/10: 139 lbs

I bit the bullet and joined a gym to get the last few lbs off and to tone up. I'm going 4x/week at 5am. I have no motivation by the time evening rolls around and so if i'm going to do it I just need to do it in the morning. I'm interested to see if my weight plateaus because of added muscle.

Week1: -3
Week2: -5
Week3: -6
Week4: -7
Week5: -9
Week6: -11
Week7:-12
week8:-13
week9:-14
week10: -15
Week11:-16
Week12:-18
Week13-15:-19
Week16:-21
Week17:-22

Week18:-24
Week19:-26
Week20:-28

A few good weeks, and I hit 15% bodyweight lost!
I bit the bullet and have been exercising on the treadmill indoors.  It's getting easier with time and at least I can watch Netflix.  It's a harder workout on the incline than outdoors so I'm done faster.  About 8 weeks until the weather lets me back outside.  I want to lose another 17 pounds so I might be at maintenance by then.

Even though I'm pushing through, I'm feeling diet fatigue.  I'm worried that I won't be able to maintain any more weight lost so why bother? But I'd like to try, at least.  If I bounce up 5-10 pounds, it's better to bounce from a lower weight.

Losing Weight in 2016

@Crystal I like TrendWeight because I can login from my desktop or my phone. I manually input my weight every day on a fitbit app/website which I sync with TrendWeight (and My Fitness Pal). Then trendweight just does the math :)

@rockstache Noooooo...u can do this!! U are my inspiration and we are all totally rooting for you!!

I have to say, I have surprised myself for the past 2 days. I am currently spending time visiting a bunch of cool places, including very cool restaurants for work. This means I have the opportunity to eat a lot of very good (and free) food. I am enjoying myself and not restricting - but am actually not eating anywhere near as much as I expected.

Today I had
Breakfast - matcha muffin, cookie, iced caramel macchiato
Lunch - grilled calamari (I turned down the entree)
Snack - smoothie
Dinner - half dozen fried calamari, beef short rib with potatoes, white chocolate bark and half a small slice of key lime cheesecake (just because I felt like I had enough).

So a lot of food but I shocked myself because I usually gorge myself at these things. I was content when I had enough and didn't feel the urge to eat more just because I could. That was seriously cool.
