I lowered my tax bracket!!!!
« on: February 22, 2016, 08:15:10 PM »
I am a newb. Wet behind the ears but game on newb. I wasn't raised with religion but I have found it in MMM. Tickled pink to report to my congregation that I will be going from the 25% tax bracket down to the 15% by tripling my 401k contribution!

I am going from 6%, the lowest to get my full employer match, to 22%. This is 80% on my way to the max of 18k.Woo woo. Plus with the 22% of my contribution    ( $11,440 / yr)  my job will kick in the full match ( $1,040 / yr) for a grand total of $12,480 a year!

Before taxes= $11,245/yr
15% bracket= $5,499 / yr.        suck it Uncle Sam

Silly as it sounds, I am afraid to get to happy even though that is too late. Waiting for something awful to happen at work now; pink slip, downsizing, you name it. That is the slavic pessimism sprouting.

Good for you!   You'll be maxing out that 401k before you know it.

Thanks SG! I am super giddy over it. I was driving home from work and I passed a Dunkin and wanted a muffin *really* bad. I thought what would that muffin be worth after 10 years of sitting a growing? Ha, it is a new game now.

Muffins can be made at home for a couple bucks a dozen.
