Slow start to the week, but I made up for it in the end.  70K achieved.

Tomorrow starts a new week for me.  Good luck to everyone.  Happy walking.

Starting this challenge today. Last week I wanted to see what i was doing on my own- 40,000 steps for the week. Basically, I am looking to get in one more walk/exercise something everyday. Looking forward to it!

Two flat out (walking over to our sister location in the next block at least twice a day) days at work, and I didn't have my tracker on. Crap! I'm not allowed to wear anything below the elbows so can't have it on at work, and I usually slip it into my pocket on the way out the door. But this time I forgot, so zeros on days that would have been up to 15,000 probably. Sad panda. :(

One of my friends sticks hers in her shoe or the band of her knickers! Might work for you?

Yeah, that one went through the washing machine. My machine does 4,632 "steps" on a cycle, in case you're interested! But now the battery doesn't charge. :(

I was sick!
cut down on my steps. dramatically.

Week ending 3/26 I had just shy of 50,000 for the week with 2 days out of action including Saturday when I normally do the mst.
Week ending 4/2. Although I was sick my phone decided it was on strike. 5 days with no data. I was feelign better by the end of the week and put in a 20,000 step saturday. I know I wasn't doing too much during the week so I'm booking it as a 44,000 week (that gives me an average of 4,000 a day on the other 6 days which is a rough guess only.

4 week average 3/26 - 69,326
4 week average 4/2 - 59,106

I'm heading the wrong way (although 2 1/;2 days into this week and I've nearly done 35,000 for the week!)

my best week this year is 84K - 12k a day. I intend to beat that this week.

Joining in and I already put in my goal of 3.65 million steps for 2016 in the Strength and Fitness thread.

http://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/throw-down-the-gauntlet/strength-fitness-2016/

Why not 3.66 million? Are you having a day off somewhere? ;)

#leapyear

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that.

My phone tells me I'm at 976,000 steps for the year, 16000 steps over a 10k/day pace (there've been 96 days in 2016 so far).

Did 57,916 steps this week, for a little over 8,000 steps on average. This is a win for me, as its the most I've walked in a week so far. I'm excited for this week to beat it!

I'd be interested to know how I'm doing for exercise generally. I'm also in Canada, so if someone knows a good inexpensive tracker... One with the time on, that goes on your wrist and does sleep stuff, would be cool.

I'm in.  Working in the field most days and put about 109k steps in last week, 89k the week before and 92k the week before that.

Now my SO knows why I'm so dead on my feet when I get home.

P.S, walking the dog adds about 2-3k steps a day, easily.

Jon

Edit:  I have the Fitbit HR.  Really like it as it also measures floors climbed in a day: I average about 22 floors a day.  The joys of working in elevated houses with multiple floors...

I need to figure out how many steps I get per mile of running. Quick google is telling me 1300 range. Puts me at 4-8k per day before I do anything else, that helps!

This week was 60,101. I did one 14,269 day, which helped to make up for my 2,141 day (last day of spring break...I was sooooooooo lazy that day). The weather is getting to be MUCH nicer in Michigan, so I am hoping to increase that number to the full 70K this week!

Is anyone interested in adding each other as "friends" so that we can have challenges against each other? Just a thought..

For me, this would be for people who have FitBit products - not sure what the other devices have in terms of friends/challenges.

I'm in! My tracker just came in the mail today. Normally I bike this time of year but I'll probably stick to walking (except for really long distances) until it becomes too hot to do so in July-ish. My goal to start will be the default 10k steps per day but I'll adjust if necessary!

Last week was 83,291 steps!! This included two days where the corgi and I went hiking. This week I forgot to wear my fitbit for two days! So I will have to put a guess in for those days...

Got my fitbit one Monday, started tracking on Tuesday.

So far without a huge effort to walk extra:

  • Tuesday - 5560 (+4.5 miles biking)
  • Wednesday - 5006 (+9 miles biking)
  • Thursday - 4909

My FitbitOne picks up a few more steps from biking, but even without that it's still... sadly pathetic. Especially since Tuesday/Thursday had events that caused me to walk more than average.

But hey, if you track if you change it right? :)

First full week went pretty well! I get about 6k round trip just walking to and from work, and so I can pretty easily average 10k during the work week. I did have to make a conscious effort to go out and walk around on the weekend though, but we had good weather so it was a pretty nice walk overall!

Only 38,899 steps for my first week having the fitbit (5,557 / day average).

And that includes quite a few that were from biking...

We just started a 10k steps a day challenge at work last week, so I am in!

I did great last week, not so good this week
5/3:    11523
5/4:    13059
5/5:      9164
5/6:      7108
5/7:      8847
Week ending 5/7: 49701 (only tracked for 5 days)
5/8:      3987
5/9:      4613
5/10:  13800
5/11:    6303

I got the Garmin Vivo a couple weeks ago.  I love that it tells time and tracks sleep but it doesn't seem to count my steps very well if my arm is not moving.  When I mowed the grass this weekend I think it only counted 1 step for every 10-20 steps I took.

I'm tentatively going to restart this this week. I did the whole step count thing years ago before I moved but never got back to it. I'm considering a couch to 5k when I can figure the schedule out but can start this sooner.

I'm nearly Luddite in comparison to the folks here. I'm also not sure if I'll post much (not very competitive). And I'm definitely only currently going to shoot for an average of 10,000 per day.

I finally got my 12 month rolling average over 10k step a day. All it took was walking half way across Spain the last two weeks to make up for all the slacking I did last winter...I'm hoping to keep the average up after we finish the Camino but there probably won't be very many days with 55k steps.

I returned my misfit flash because the bracelet kept breaking.

I might get a fitbit, but in the mean time... I'm walking as much as I can! Keeps my heart light! I have a new job though, which will involve driving 45 min to work and then sitting at a desk... eeps! I'm going to try and walk before work, during lunch, and after work.

My roommate passed me a vivofit because her bracelet broke and she got a new model plus the batteries were running low. I went to the Daiso and purchased a $2 watch and stuck the insert into the loops of the plastic watch band. It looks like something a 15 year old would wear, but it works! And I've been using it for 2-3 weeks now with excellent results.

I started at 8k steps a day. My daily average for the last week was 16,037. Now I am in the 100k/week step challenge. Just going a little bit further each day.
