I'm feeling grateful for the amazing diversity of food that is available to us year round. Today I had banana carrot walnut bread for breakfast, a Chinese-inspired tofu dish for lunch, and Indian-style curry for dinner, all homemade and delicious.

Today, I am grateful for an incredible team of coworkers who pulled together to address a crisis at work.

I drove home in the rain. It’s been very hot for a week, and the rain is such a joy - particularly as it was part of a COLD front.

I've been making experimental meals and it's so nice when things turn out! Rice spiced with black cardamom, chili & lime...who knew?

Plus, it makes me happy to use things we already have in new ways.

I'm happy I was able to salvage a new recipe. 30 minute soup my ass, 3 hours later and it was painfully bland. I saved it though, now it's delicious.

I love how close my girls are with each other. They played really well together today, with hardly any bickering. And they played a game to try to sweep the floor as fast as possible, which was super cute, though not particularly effective.

Weather was gorgeous, so we spent a lot of time outside working, puttering, just sitting.  At dusk we built a fire with our kids and made smores.  That was a good day.

We are in the midst of a rainstorm with high winds. I'm feeling super grateful to our power company, who worked through the night to restore power. Ours was restored after only about two hours. I'm probably one of the few people in the US who actually likes their power company lol.

An online bookclub last night, which went well and resulted in meaningful conversation. Zoom can be a pain but also a blessing..in this case, it was lovely to see everyone's faces--it's been months since we met in person.

Had a great couple of days reassembling my bookshelves after a long home renovation project. It was great to have access to my books again - I had to put them in a storage unit for the duration of the renovation project. I now have my favorite armchair located near my bookshelves and am really happy!

After reading the 'renovate or remodel bathroom' thread I think I have found the best solution for our ugly but functional ensuite bathroom. It will save us heaps in renovation costs (I was at the point where I just wanted to gut it and start from scratch) but make for a much more attractive and water-efficient bathroom.  I am so happy about that as it has been on my mind for several years.

I'm happy that I made marmalade from my cumquats and seville oranges for the first time ever today. The trees have grown enough to produce enough fruit for that to happen.

I just added up how much I spent on groceries/food/alcohol last month and it is astonishing (--we live in a small, pricy mountain town, no access to warehouse shopping but still..this includes fancy items on the regular). The thing that makes me Happy about this is knowing that I can set a proper limit and get this spending under control. Historically I would spend cash on groceries but buying things on credit due to covid has helped me (unintentionally) track this number.

Excited to creatively work with what we have and if my SO wants to--he can still buy chunks of expensive cheese but I shall not!

The eggs from my Aldi  have a Bible quote inside the carton, which made me smile this morning.. I'm not really religious but I have a happy memory of singing it as a child. "This is the day which the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it"

It is snowing lightly outside, dusting everything with a fresh coat of white.
We are expecting BIG snows over the next few days and I love snow when I don't have to drive anywhere.

I am happy that we are being asked to limit our movements in the city because of newly discovered cases in other neighborhoods. That means I get to stay all day at home, read books, attend service online, and bake. I love the smell of fresh apple cake and brownies.

Love this thread! @deborah thanks for starting it!

Today's happiness is learning a local hardware store recycles cfl bulbs. I made a haz mat drop off trip just last weekend, and the next day a bulb went bad. The hardware store saves a trip and a lot time.

I had a really pleasant day with the kids, and got to visit my grandma (outdoors and masked).

My husband is quitting vaping, and he feels like crap right now, but he's staying strong and I'm proud of him.

I think I may have perfected my sausage roll recipe. I added a ton of veggies (carrots, green bell peppers, mushroom, spinach). There are now more veggies than meat in the roll, but the veggies keep the filling moist and flavorful. Real British people may be aghast by my bastardization of the true sausage roll, but I am very happy with my edits. It’s almost healthy now.

I had an avocado that was about to get too ripe. I made a blueberry avocado smoothie and it was really tasty.

Also, a random person waved at me while they were doing yardwork and I drove past. I was going slow enough that I was able to wave back.

We went to visit a family friend's goat ranch today. It was super fun to just stroll across his property, and my kids were in heaven - petting the goats and a gigantic puppy, chasing chickens, and digging in the dirt. Overall a really nice day. We agreed to come back in a month or two to help vaccinate the baby goats, which I'm looking forward to.

We're starting a large DIY house renovation project (gutting the finished basement, putting in new windows, etc).  DH and I enlisted our two teenage kids to help for the day, and all four of us worked together to empty the basement out completely and clean it.  It was fun to work together, and also decide on what to keep and what to donate/get rid of.  And seeing an empty, clean basement is a treat even if it's just temporary.  Today the drywall starts to come down and it will be a dusty mess for a while.

Today I’m grateful we have enough money to afford a $140 doctors visit so DH a an get diagnosed with a cold so he can get approved for a paid sick day.

I’m also grateful that DD is old enough not to freak out when I can’t make it in time to pick her up from school and she ends up having to sit for half an hour in the school office.

I grew up in Avocadoland and only learned recently that they can be refrigerated to slow the ripening process. Mind=blown.

I go to the office every day, but have to wear a mask at all times and stay away from the handful of coworkers who also show up.

Today, there is no one else in my quadrant. I've got a 50 foot radius of wonderfully empty space around me!

I just came home and fixed our washing machine with refurbished parts bought online, which made a frustrating 14 hour day at work vanish in a puff of successful and thrifty home maintenance!!!!!

Then I found this thread, which has inspired me to go work out for 15 minutes instead of staring at my phone before bed-----later....!

Today I was misinterpreted, then given non-relevant life advice and chastisement for imaginary faults of emotion.

The happiness was not being upset by any of that, nor lashing out at the ones perpetrating the bizarre conversation...being secure enough in myself to repel the mistaken assessment and skilled enough in interpersonal relations to eventually turn the conversation to a mutually agreeable topic.
