Was pretty pleased with myself I had passed on a few bags of books, clothes and toddler items we were done with over the holidays. And then we accepted a batch of hand me downs today from my sister (2 big boxes of clothes, 2 bags of books, plus some jackets, shoes) so I'm in arrears, which is motivating.
One area I'm not good at is the "just in case". We were given hand me downs that are *way* more than we need for my kids, but I saved "just in case" we might need/my second child might love clothes my first didn't. For example, I counted 65 short shirts alone for my daughter, plus more long-sleeve. Some given after my son had almost outgrown them so he never even wore them. He also had favorites, so he only wore ~2 pjs and we were given loads more. I finally went through the 2 year old clothes during the holidays to cull out clothes my daughter was unlikely to wear. Given the quantity that came in, I think I need to take another pass at it and be much more ruthless to make space.
