Goal: minus 2 lbs

I like two, because it keeps me committed enough to not gain -my primary goal- and focused enough for slow, sustainable lifestyle changes, yet is easy to achieve thus celebrate :)

*I again won't be travelling this month, so that makes it easier.
*I have new energy for movement, so am actively looking for ways to add that in.
*Feb 15-March 30 I had a specific eating plan. It was wonderful, but I'm convinced the volume of fruit I relied on left me itchy.

So my plan for April:
**Limit sugars regardless of form (starches, fruit, junk food, whatever)
**Experiment with community gym with kid
**Walk to my school 1x week

Sir Samuel has decided to join his fine fellows, and has set a goal of -4 lbs.

I'm underway, and I have zero pop tarts available for consumption. The loss is almost guaranteed, right?

I would like to participate again with the goal of 2 lbs for April. That would take me under a milestone number. Lots of travel this month so will need to be extra mindful. I am trying to be more active this month as well--some body parts are feeling a bit wobbly!!! :)

Oh wow do I need this.

Let's say -3lbs this month and be psyched if it is more.

A bit more movement but mostly healthier eating will be the approach.

I would like to lose weight. I will take any amount. I’m up 2 pounds from last December. It’s not that big a deal but it annoys me. If I lost 3 or 4 pounds I would be stoked and at my goal weight ( I am short so a few pounds is a material difference for me).I will have to get ok with being hungry to do that. But once I do the weight should come off and then it seems like I don’t have to stay hungry to maintain it.

BOOM, ok count me in!

I did Frugal February and only ate out once the whole month.
I did decluttering March, organized our attic, gave away a ton on Craigslist and went to goodwill twice.

I love these challenges.  :)   Let's do this people!

ugh, March didn't go well...

20 lbs still

Maybe I can actually wear my 34" pants instead of 'squeezing' into them.

My plan;

delayed, small breakfast

late lunch (early afternoon) a little bigger but still just a normal meal

snack/small meal for supper

No beer, ugh

Basically my Lenten fast everyday of the week. Here we go!

I'm in for 4 pounds this month.  I lost 7 last month so 4 is a minimum.  I made it past Easter with no chocolate, so the rest of the month should be easy (right, eh?).

Not only did I eat a lot of chocolate ( among other things) but we still have lots of tasty, unhealthy foods in the house!
Making a commitment to loose 3kg (a good 6 pounds) minimum.
I will start the metabolic balance diet again ( has previously worked well for me, lost ~30 pounds seven years ago, but slowly gained back 20) and go for 40 min walks at least 3x a week.
Thanks for the challenge, that helps a lot.
Wishing everyone good luck with your leftovers from Easter and a great start!

I'm in for 5 lbs and 3 inches! After a month of various stresses, the scale was at (gulp) 210 this AM.

I have suffered from really disordered eating in the past. Tracking calories is not for me - I get seriously obsessed and crazy about it, including weighing myself daily (or multiple times throughout the day).

This time I'm going to focus on:
a) Self-care, including hot yoga 3x per week
b) Minimal packaged or restaurant foods (which will help with the budget as well)
c) Weighing myself once per week on the same day, and no more.

Anything else would be optional!

Starting ~218ish. Aiming for 210. Adventurous I guess. But hey whatever better to aim for that and fail than not aim and not come close?

Mini goals: one or less alcohol drink per day
Five fruits or vegetables
Core exercises daily

Well, I'm not off to a good start. PMS and 50% off Easter candy teamed up on me yesterday with predictable results. Good progress last month had me saying "it's fine, go ahead."

I aim to lose 5 pounds in April, despite a number of challenges.

Starting weight: 191
Goal by end of April: 186
Challenges: Currently have a sprained ankle, limiting exercise. Also have a week of work travel to Africa mid-month, then leaving for another work trip to Asia at the end of the month. Stress and travel tend to lead to weight gain, which is partially how I gained some of this weight in the first place.

Strategies: Focus on portion size. Avoid eating out when not traveling. Avoid stress eating. Get enough sleep and water.

Wednesday weekly averages:

March 28:     166.2 lbs, 36.9"
April 4:         165.2 lbs, 36.8"

... and we're off! Looking for 36.3", this month, so not very far to go. But I'm guessing these last few inches are going to be more stubborn than the first few were :-)

Yesterday was a little bit off the rails, thanks to chaotic logistics. I kept a running estimate of calories in my head, instead of logging progressively. I figured I had room for those lunchtime chips. I did not have room for those lunchtime chips. Happily, I ended up at maintenance, instead of completely blowing past what my body actually needed. C'est la vie.

Skipped breakfast this morning, because I wasn't hungry. So now I've got extra calories to play with tonight. Lunchtime chips, anyone?

I'm in for April! I'm keeping my same goal of 4 lbs from last month plus I'd like to add a goal of losing 1 inch around my waist. I've never been big into measuring but I think it's a good idea. I'll have to bust out the measuring tape tonight and see where I'm at. I don't even know how realistic 1 inch is but I figure I'll use it as a starting point.

April 3rd Weight - 127.0 Lbs - ??.?inches
Goal weight - 123.0 Lbs - ??.?inches

Ok guys, the April roster has been added at the top of the thread.  Welcome everyone!

A couple of you didn't post your lbs goal so I put in 4, as that seems to be the most common.  If you want me to change it, just let me know.

I'm in for April with a more realistic 2.5 pound weight loss goal thanks to Sailor Sam's better math of how many calories you have to eat per day to lose a pound. I'm also going to start actually counting my calories.

142.2 as of 4/5/18

I'm getting a bit frustrated. I'm at a healthy weight for my height (21.9 BMI, so basically smack dab in the middle of the targeted range), but I would like to be about 5-10 lbs lighter, mostly for vanity reasons. I used to be about 20-25 lbs heavier than I am now, but I have been at my current weight for the past 2 plus years. It was relatively easy for me to lose those 20-25 lbs, but it has been difficult to get any lower. Earlier in the week I got annoyed because I had an extremely healthy day of eating with plenty of activity thrown into the mix, but when I got on the scale the next morning, I was up a pound. As a result, I decided to consume copious amount of chocolate for lunch the next day. I'm going to try to make good food choices for the rest of the month and remain active, even if the scale does weird things. If I still don't get any results, I'll have to reevaluate my goals.

@a&R Those last few "Vanity pounds" are the hardest. Your body is like cool were at a nice healthy weight I think I'll chill right here.

I measured my waist and also hopped on the scale since I was feeling pretty good (went for a run yesterday ate a salad for lunch etc.

April 3rd - 127.0 lbs
April 5th - 126.2 lbs - 32 1/2 "
Goal weight - 123.0 Lbs - 31 1/2 "
.8/4 lbs lost 0/1 inch lost

Interesting reading everyone's strategies. @a&R maybe focusing on the inches would help you? Sometimes there are body changes that aren't represented on the scale.

I'm starting with exercise. I got really out of shape the last  year or so.
Further to my hot yoga goal (3x per week), decided get back into running. At some point in my life, not recently, I was a runner who completed a marathon. Used to really love it.

So Saturday I took my first "run" (e.g. walking, some running) in about 3 years.
It....went. Not particularly well. I'm following the Couch to 5 K program, and I managed to complete all the 'running' intervals, although they were painfully slow.

Sunday I was SORE. But today feel OK, and am planning yoga again tonight.

Historically, I crave better food, and eat better in general when I am more active. So fingers crossed this helps with bad food cravings and helping me make choices that are better.

skibum - I jogged for the first time in forever on Sunday and again this morning. Just 10 minutes each time at a very easy pace. I could've probably gone longer, but I don't want to overdo it at the outset. It made me pretty sore too. I think in order to lose any more I'll have to exercise harder and cleanup my diet a bit. I'm doing pretty well with not snacking, but I don't necessarily eat low calorie or diet foods at meals either. Those things just don't leave me feeling very satisfied.

My goals for the rest of the week are:
- Minimize snacking
- 45 minutes of activity per day (at least 10 minutes of running)
- Incorporate some dumbbell exercises

This week is going to be a challenge. Lunch is being provided 4 of the 5 days. At least I get to order lunch for 2 of the days so I can throw in some healthier options. I need to make sure I'm making time for working out too. I've been kind of bad about that this month only running a couple times and no other working out besides walking. Need to add some strength training to the mix.

Is it too late for me to join?  2017 was an OK food & exercise year for me, but I had a really bad 1Q 2018.  I realized on April 5 that I'd gained 7.5 pounds in 2 1/2 months.  (I need to insert 100 sad face emojis here). So, I immediately got off the sweets, chips, & beer wagon, and onto the fruit & veg wagon.

From my April 6 high (how did it go up the day after I started my diet?!) I hope to lose 5 pounds by April 30.

Hi everyone - I've been really busy so haven't had a chance to pop by and I'm glad to see all the action going on here, including some new peeps!  The roster has been updated.  Welcome everyone!

I weighed in a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised by a 1 lb. loss on the scale.  I still haven't taken my measurements though.  I think this month is going to be mainly focusing on staying the course on food choices as it looks like it will be a very busy time and that's when I too often decide that things like pizza and takeout make perfect sense.

I've been happy that I did some batch cooking a few weeks ago.  It's hard to justify buying junk when you have perfectly good food at home.  Today I'll season a bunch of chicken for grilling.
