Just eight here to get back to nice round numbers.

53. Heart of the Mountain by Larry Correia
Excellent finale to a long-time favourite series. Fantastic series overall, and the ending is great.

54. Monique and the Mango Rains: Two Years With a Midwife in Mali by Kris Holloway
55. Adrift in Current Clean and Clear by Seanan McGuire
56. The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden
57. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
58. A Song to Drown Rivers by Ann Liang
59. No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai
60. We Shall Be Monsters by Alyssa Wees

I'm on track for all my official goals, and also making some headway into my loose-goosey goals - I only read relevant books on my trip, I've been staying on top of new releases, and knocked out a lot of the super-popular books I hadn't gotten around to yet.

A gentleman’s gentlerobot at the end of civilization. I really enjoyed it. It’s advertised as a satire, and I can see the criticism of modern society, but I found it more character driven than funny.

I like this kind of challenge! I haven’t been keeping count, but I just finished City of the Uncommon Thief, which was a fantastic fantasy story.

I got it at the the local Library’s used book sale. I’m going to swing by those every chance I get now. You can get books at a low price, and you help support your local library.

17) The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley  (*bookclub, quite enjoyable and fantastical)
18) The Country of the Blind by H.G Wells (short story)
19) The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss

Pop sugar Challenge
17) A book where an adult character changes careers
18) Two books with the same title (2)
19) A book that reminds you of your childhood. (First read through of the book, the 1960 movie was watched multiple times when I was young & the treehouses had a strong impact on my imagination. The book is a bit brutal to read now "oh, look a new colony for us", etc so I'll also rewatch the film when I finish)

Man, I dunno what to think of Riddley Walker. On the one hand, the language was great. It must have taken so much thought and work. On the other hand, the plot was so effing boring. I nearly quit about 5 times, and it was only cussedness that kept me going to the end.

13. Ship of Destiny by Robin Hobb (god I love this series!!)

15. Het verlangen by Hugo Claus (DNF - got real gross real fast. Did my best to read at least 20 pages but damn, I should've tossed it after 5)

I read 4 books so far! Yay!

1.Pathfinders by JL Collins
2.I will teach you to be rich by Ramit Sethi (reread, I read it 7 years ago)
3.Le Syndrome E, by Franck Thilliez
4. The Midnight Feast, by Lucy Foley
5. Gataca, by Franck Thilliez
6. La forêt des ombres, by Franck Thilliez

Both were really good.
7. Atomka, by Frank Thilliez
8. La cadence parfaite, by Jessyca David
9. Les détournements, by Marie Demers
10. Norferville, by Frank Thilliez

I’m behind on my goal of 52 books. I sometimes think that because I work full time and study part time, I don’t have time to read, but I know someone who as 3 children, works full time and read approx 100 books per year.

Moving slower this year, but have listened to a lot of podcasts in lieu of audiobooks. Also read so many technical manuals (but those don't make it on the list). I guess I'm on track for 40 books at this rate, so I might need to increase the rate (or read some short books)!

1. Unaccountability Machine - Dan Davies
2. Piranesi - Susana Clarke
3. Tales from Out There: The Barkley Marathons, The World’s Toughest Trail Race - Frozen Ed Furtaw
4. The Fuller Memorandum - Charles Stross
5. REDACTED
6. The Apocalypse Codex - Charles Stross
7. The Rhesus Chart - Charles Stross
8. The city and it's uncertain walls - Haruki Murakami (audiobook)
9. Where Wolves Don't Die - Anton Treuer (audiobook)
10. It's not the end of the world - Hannah Ritchie

1. Something Rotten (Thursday Next #3) -Jasper FForde -" magical creatures that aren't dragons"
2. Ghostwritten -David Mitchell- (audio book)  " interconnected short stories"
3. Anathem-Neal Stephenson- "nontraditional education"
4. The Devil and the Dark Water-Stuart Turton "set in or around a body of water"
5. The Chaos Machine: The inside story of how social media rewired our minds and our world-Max Fisher (audio book) nonfiction
6. The Blue Hour-Paula Hawkins 'two books with same title #1"
7. The Blue Hour-Laura Pritchett "two books with same title #2"
8. The Mistletoe Mystery- Nita Prose (novella) "book under 250 pages"
9. The Mirror and the Light-Hilary Mantel (Thomas Cromwell #3)  "politician", "chronic pain" or "married couple who don't live together".
10. Silver in the Wood-Emily Tesh (novella) "silver on the cover or in the title"
11. The Six: the untold story of America's first women astronauts-Loren Gush (audio book) nonfiction "a book about an overlooked woman in history"
12. Girl, Woman, Other-Bernadine Evaristo another series of interconnected short stories,  "a book where an adult character changes careers"
13. Green Frog-Gina Chung (short story collection) "POC experiencing joy not trauma"

14.The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes-Suzanne Collins "snake on the cover or in the title"
15. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo-Taylor Jenkins Reid "book about a road trip"-there's a road trip in there anyway
16. A City on Mars: Can we settle space, should we settle space, and have we really thought this through? by Kelly Weinersmith and Zach Weinersmith (audio book) nonfiction "a book about space tourism"
17. Normal Women: 900 years of making history-Philippa Gregory (audio book) nonfiction

19. The Thursday Murder Club-Richard Osman "a book with a nonverbal character"
20. The Lost City of the Monkey God-Douglas Preston (audio book) nonfiction. "a book that takes place at a luxury resort"-part of it does anyway
21. Orbital - Samantha Harvey "a book that could be considered healing fiction" this is more of a philosophy book with fictional characters there for convenience. no real conflict happens but the writing is very good. I actually had to put it down a couple of times because I was getting vertigo.
22. Normal People-Sally Rooney "a book about soccer" it's actually about relationships but there's a soccer scene so it counts.  I did not like the beginning but it got better.
23. Les Miserables by Victor Hugo "a book you've always avoided reading" additionally my son challenged me to read something over 1000 pages. There were some parts that were more engaging and some that required a bit of patience. I put it down a few times and read several of the short books I've listed while I was also reading this.
24. Ghostwalk-Rebecca Stott "a book with less than 3 stars on Goodreads" it actually has 3.08 but close enough. this had potential but could have used better editing.

I have an unfortunate quirk of finding a lot of hyped bestsellers to be total crap, but Demon won me over. The middle dragged just a bit, but I was in for the ride by the end.

16. Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie. I picked this one up at the library without knowing anything about it, but it was one of my favorite reads of the past year. It's told from the perspective of various members of two British Pakistani families whose lives intersect after one family member joins a terrorist organization.
