I've been making an effort this year to have at least 50% of the books I read be by women - as it currently stands, I am at 27/43 or 63%....

Nothing against male authors of course, I just noticed that in previous years I predominantly read books by (often white) men (eg: I've had goals in previous years to read a lot of classics from the 18th/19th/early 20th c.). Trying to include a wider range of more diverse voices this time around.

Anyone else have similar goals?

Last year, I noticed that I wasn't reading very many books written by women, and that only a handful of women writers showed up on my mental list of favorite books (Emily Bronte, Harper Lee, Maria Doria Russell).  So this year I had a similar goal to yours (the language of mine was to read 10 new-to-me female writers this year).  I'm only at four so far, but that's largely because the Neopolitan novels by Elena Ferrante and the collected works of Clarice Lispector (both of which I loved) took me a long time.

I've still got time, I should try to get that goal back on track.
