I keep track of all the books I read on goodreads.com I love that site. I am doing the reading challenge for 2016 as I did in 2015. I am pledged to read 100 books. As of today, I am at 35. I'd say I'm definitely on track to read 50 books this year. I have 4 siting on the end table right now from the library. If you want to see what I've been reading you can check out my goodreads.com profile https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/16775571-stephanie-johnson

Just got A simple path to wealth by JL Collins, will only be like my 10th book to read this year? So I'm definitely not going to be aiming for 50.

PopSugar 2016 book challenge list for the rest of the year (bolded text shows newly completed book):

1. A book based on a fairy tale - The Robber Bride - Margaret Atwood 3/2/16
2. A National Book Award winner - Between the World and Me - Ta-Nehisi Coates. - so good. I am thankful that I read this book; I could say so much more but then I would be droning on and just . . EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS!! Not only is it important because of the subject, but his writing is also beautiful.
3. A YA bestseller - Uglies by Scott Westerfeld 3/13/16 Pretties by Scott Westerfeld and also Specials by Scott Westerfeld. Trilogies kill me but I can't stop at just the first book. Apparently there was also a 4th book- Extras - read that too
4. A book you haven't read since high school -  Knight in Shining Armour - Jude Deveraux 3/16/2016 - this was a hoot to reread!
5. A book set in your home state A Girl Named Zippy - Haven Kimmel 4/20/16 Growing up in a small town in Indiana was pretty boring, reading this book about growing up in a small town in Indiana was also sort of boring. Ahh well.
6. A book translated to English  The Master and Margarita - Bulgakov 4/1/16
7. A romance set in the future - Devoted in Death- JD Robb 4/8/16 I've been reading the In Death series for the like the last 20 years so very happy the latest paperback fit into a category on this list.
8. A book set in Europe - The Vatican Princess by C.W. Gortner - it was fine. For some reason I can read endless HistFics about the Tudors and Plantagenets but for some reason I feel like books about the Borgias are all the same
9. A book under 150 pages - The Buddha in the Attic - Julie Otsuka 4/10/16 This was a beautiful book and a quick read and I highly recommend it. The story of Japanese "picture brides" who emigrated in the early 1900's - the book follows them to the WWII internment camps and was actually very timely.
10. A New York Times bestseller - Prince Lestate by Anne Rice - this book was actually awful. I've read most of the vampire chronicles and enjoyed the first several but should have remembered how blah the more recent ones were.
11. A book that's becoming a movie this year - You before Me by Jojo Moyes and Miss Peregrine's School for Peculiar Children (can't remember the author). I genuinely enjoyed Miss Peregrine's and will read the rest of the series and the Moyes was sort of fun in that it weirdly inverted the Manic Pixie Dreamgirl trope - but I don't know if it did that on purpose
12. A book recommended by someone you just met
13. A self-improvement book - All Joy No Fun by Jennifer Senior
14. A book you can finish in a day - In a dark, dark wood by Ruth Ware

I don't think I'm going to get to 50 this year. Here is where I am now.

1. A Feast for Crows - George R.R. Martin
2. The Wright Brothers - David McCullough
3. The Corrections - Jonathan Franzen
4. Gray Mountain - John Grisham
5. Go Set a Watchman - Harper Lee
6. Memory Man - David Baldacci
7. The Martian - Andy Weir
8. Basic Keelboat - US Sailing Association
9. A Walk Across America - Peter Jenkins
10. The Single Best Investment - Lowell Miller
11. Fooled by Randomness - Nicholas Nassim Taleb
12. Margin of Safety: Seth Klarman
13. Freedom - Jonathan Franzen
14. I Didn't Know I Could Do That - Tony Perrone
15. The Elegance of the Hedgehog - Muriel Barbery
16. City of Thieves - David Benioff
17. The Arm: Inside the Billion Dollar Mystery of the Most Valuable Commodity in Sports - Jeff Passan
18. Purity - Jonathan Franzen
19. A Dance with Dragons - George R.R. Martin

I decided to focus more on page #s rather than # of books. This way I could read what I wanted to read instead of focusing on books I could finish in a week. So I switched to shooting for 16k pages, which would be an average of a 320 page book per week.

Now reading: Nexus - Ramez Naam

For anyone interested in a young adult fiction author, Libba Bray is excellent IMO. She is able to write in different genres and different time periods quite well. She has written about a dozen or so books, among which, there are two trilogies.

13. A self-improvement book - All Joy No Fun: The Paradox of Modern Parenting by Jennifer Senior - great book. Was in the self help section at my library but not really a self help book.

Say Goodbye to Survival Mode by Crystal Paine - no good. Lots of bland and contradictory tips for being a mom , ie "stop trying to do it all", "Manage the Homefront", and "Discipline is not a bad word" - homemaker advice from a Christian perspective - not my jam.

14. A book you can finish in a day
15. A book written by a celebrity
