Also - how do some of you read so much?! I consider myself to be a fast reader but it still takes me a few days to read a 2-300 page book these days and I certainly don't read every day anymore. Are you super readers already FIREd?
Others have already chimed in, but for my part:
1) I read fast. I always have. Some material is faster than others (Harry Potter is easier/quicker than Proust).
2) I read during downtime. I try to fill in the margins in my day with reading. My kindle is ALWAYS with me, so if I have five minutes to kill - I read. It's not unusual to see me reading my kindle while in line at the grocery store, riding the metro, waiting for a bus, at happy hour having a drink (assuming I'm alone, of course).
3) I read several books at once. I generally have at least 3 books going at a time: non-fiction, fiction, and travel. Sometimes I have two fiction books going (generally a light, easy, fun read and a more serious literary fiction selection.)
4) I dedicate time to reading. I read for about an hour at night before bed. I also built in half an hour into my morning routine that I generally use for reading (unless I wake up feeling groggy and need the extra sleep).
Really, for me, it's all about building routines that emphasize reading. Some people can't imagine going a day without running or watching TV or writing in their journal, I can't imagine a day where I didn't spend time reading.
