This'll be a fun place to track what I'm currently reading! I don't know that I'll hit 50 books for the year- I love to read I do so in spurts. Sometimes I'll read a book in a couple days but then will go a few weeks without reading anything. Here's what I've got so far in 2016:

1.  Leviathan Wakes - James S.A. Corey
2.  Caliban's War - James S.A. Corey
3.  Abaddon's Gate - James S.A. Corey

1.  360 Degrees Longitude: One Family's Journey Around the World   (really neat and inspiring book!)

Now I am working on How to Raise An Adult.

I probably won't make it to 50 books - my personal goal is 24.  :-)

I also have a goal to read more books this year, though I'm only aiming for getting 12 books read. I used to read a lot, but now I always take out a few books from the library, renew them twice and I still don't have those books done!

I've read one book so far this year. So I'm ahead of schedule (:

Yup! Though, getting through The Long Mars was tough. It just didn't seem to have much of a point. But I've liked the rest of the books in the series. It's a super premises.

I'm in! I actually want to do 2 per week, 1 fiction and 1 nonfiction. So far I'm behind... read 1 fiction, started 2 nonfiction but didn't finish either before they had to go back to the library. Just couldn't get into them, and I don't believe in forcing myself to finish a book I'm not enjoying.

Completed - Fiction:

No tablet, just an old fashioned book. My office  is on the 19th floor so I take the elevator to the lobby and walk back up while reading. I can't do it going down the stairs, I would kill myself but going up I do just fine.

I'm eating breakfast while reading (well, you know, after this post) , something I do most everyday- my fav reading time.

I love to read. If I am feeling sad or cranky, reading a (physical) book improves my mood dramatically. I am finally reading Middlemarch by George Elliot. Despite the novel's age, the depth of emotional insight is profound. It feels like a self-help book --a genre that normally eludes me-- and it might be my favorite book. I think something by Wilkie Collins is next. Maybe Lord of the Rings? Mindless/read in a day books include those by Sue Grafton, Jennifer Chiaverini, or any historical fiction or epic. I also like non-fiction, and  Hume's A Treatise on Human Nature is on that list of 2016 possibilities. I also intend to finish Robert Caro's current books on Johnson. Caro is incredible.

1. A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge (finished 1/19). I like the universe/aliens he built. He set up some problems/solutions that he did not deliver on, but I suspect he'll do so in the third book. He could work on his pacing. The climax was rushed IMO, and other sections could have been pared down considerably. But what do I know? I enjoyed it!

Currently reading:
2. Lisons comme ça (a multilevel French reader)

I read half of two other books before abandoning them, so they don't count toward my 50.

Would an entire issue of Lapham's Quarterly count as a book? It's comprised of a bunch of excerpts from many writers, but it is dense.

Joining as I mostly read sci-fi/fantasy and am always looking out for new books to try.

Read 59 in 2015 so should be able to meet the 50 target - though some of those were re-reads.

2016
1. Scarlet - Marissa Meyer
2. Cress - Marissa Meyer
3. Winter - Marissa Meyer
Sequels to Cinder, a fun sci-fi revisit of the Cinderella/Red Riding Hood/Rapunzel stories.

4. The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet - Becky Chambers
Author's first book, nice sci-fi worldbuilding, characterisation slightly weak, would still read sequel when it comes out.

5. Balanced on the Blade's Edge - Lindsay Buroker
Currently free for Kindle on Amazon, nice, light, short fantasy romance.

Am now reading the sequel to Blade's Edge.

1. The Cairo Affair - Olen Steinhauer
2. American Nations - Colin Woodard
3. The Invention of Wings - Sue Monk Kidd

4. Dune - Frank Herbert. First read this series years ago, still a good fun read.

5. Expats - Chris Pavone

I'm excited to join in.  I'm a pretty avid reader, so my personal goal for the year is 125.

I did a book a day in December 2015 (not literally, but did finish 31 books over the course of the month).  Then, I was burnt out and didn't finish another book until the second week of January.

1. The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley (1/9) ***
2. I Was Told There'd Be Cake by Sloane Crosley (1/10) **
3. A Beginner's Guide to Paradise by Alex Sheshunoff (1/11) **
4. The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith (1/15) ***
5. Mastering the Art of French Eating by Ann Mah (1/16) **
6. Blue Shoes and Happiness by Alexander McCall Smith (1/17) **
7. Hotels of North America by Rick Moody (1/18) **
8. Dear Mr. Knightley by Katherine Reay (1/20) ** [Audiobook]
9. Beaten, Seared, and Sauced by Jonathan Dixon (1/22) ***

Currently Reading (note: I tend to read lots of books at once...I'm very much a mood reader)
-Buenos Aires by James Gardner
-Possessed by Elif Batuman
-Mothers, Tell Your Daughters by Bonnie Jo Campbell
-Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs
-The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde

I read 76 last year & have decided to focus on writing this year, however I still spend a couple hours a day reading. So.. count me in . pretty sure I'll still reach 50. Mostly to to keep track of what I've read & get ideas :)

1. Revenge Wears Prada
2. Koko be good.

3. The Men I Didn't Marry

4. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert

5. Fight Club

I hav to admit I found Fight Club incredibly boring, though I like the movie... Can't say that too often!

6. The Color of Earth (Kim Dong Hwa)
