« on: May 27, 2015, 01:56:03 PM »
What will you do in the next Month - completion date of June 30, 2015

1. Hit top 10 for bike miles in the Cycling Challenge
2. Knock off at least $2,000 in our lines of credit
3. Get around to installing the trim in our upstairs bedroom

(I'm not calling these goals 'cause I'm a trendsetter and stuff)

1. Close and move entirely into our new (to us) house, and let all the stress and negativity from living in the apartment melt away.  The jerks below us will no longer matter.
2. Start a new garden at said house (and fire the lawn care service - yikes!)
3. Get my budget back into business after saving so. freaking. aggressively. to afford the house and contribute some money to my "open a Vanguard taxable account" savings account.

I've started to really look at my spending so far this year and I haven't been doing well.

1. No clothes/home decor shopping
2. Do a test run to work using the new bike share
3. Keep all food and alcohol under $350 by meal prepping for upcoming hotel stay and not eating out for more than $10

Edit: I can't count to 3.

    by June 30:
    • Pay off the last of my student loans!  If my math is right and the checks I expect come in as planned, it should be doable! Done!
    • Take a trip with a friend and still stay on course with savings. A combination of miles and couch surfing should make this doable~ Trip Canceled   :(
    • Get a better handle on my budget now that I'm using cards instead of cash.  I want to come up with a definite weekly plan to keep me on track since I don't have the money right in front of me at all times. Done, downloaded YNAB

Love this!

1. Cut my own hair (they don't even sell shears at Target!)
2. Earn $500 selling stuff on ebay/Etsy
3. Walk my dogs once a day (we have a baby, so this will be a real challenge)

I'm off to a fine start - 8th place in the cycling challenge as of this instant, A few hundred went into the line of Credit yesterday, and I scowled at the trim in the spare bedroom as I walked past this morning.

 1. Hit 100km in the June cycling challenge (hey, that's a lot for me, ok?)
 2. Catch up in the read 50 books challenge - currently at 19, should be at 26 by end of month.
 3. Write reports 12 - 15
 extra bonus target
 4. start a side hustle

Okay, I'll bite:

1) Spend less than 2K in June - (looking surprisingly achievable)
2) Keep garden alive and thriving in June despite being a 2 hour ferry ride away (somewhat worried)
3) Run 10k in under 50 minutes (highly questionable)

1. Reduce the amount of food gathering dust in my pantry.  I still have two weeks before I allow myself to buy groceries so this objective is all but guaranteed.
2. Spend at least 15 minutes doing physical activity each day.  I'm in a sorry state of fitness right now and want to build up my strength, so this will be a start.
3. Declutter!  I'm moving to another apartment in July so I need to go against my procrastinating ways and get a headstart to make the process as stress-less as possible.

I usually overwhelm myself by trying to achieve too many things at once so whittling the list down to three will help me maintain focus.

1. No refined sugar, aside from the antacids I don't seem to be able to get by without (see #3)
2. Keep up the exercises for torn rotator cuff on my own without physical therapy - at least every second day.
3. Continue to wean off the prescription antiinflammatories that have done a number on my stomach

Revamping my finances:

1. Find a savings account that pays at least 5% and doesn't hold my emergency money hostage.
2. Find a credit card with a better interest rate and a nice sign up bonus
3. Find a different bank to better suit my goals also with a nice sign up bonus.

UPDATE: Completed #2 and #3

Found #1 - but haven't signed up yet, but plan to, toward the end of July or mid August.

So how did everyone do?

I've started to really look at my spending so far this year and I haven't been doing well.

1. No clothes/home decor shopping
2. Do a test run to work using the new bike share
3. Keep all food and alcohol under $350 by meal prepping for upcoming hotel stay and not eating out for more than $10

Edit: I can't count to 3.

1. Success! I even went with friends clothes shopping and didn't buy anything.
2. Failed. I pushed this off since it's so damn hot.
3. Success! It was close, but I spent $340 this month. Bringing food to the hotel room helped a lot. I think I ate out three times where the bill was over $10, so not too bad.

1)Crack 70% savings rate
2)Close 2 big deals at work
3)Go on Vacation

Failed on the savings rate, only hit 66%
Closed 2 big deals at work! One being on the last day of the month. Chaching $$
Went to Syracuse for a very relaxing 3 day weekend to visit one of my best friends.

Overall a good month =)

1. Success! No refined sugar (antacids aside) for one month today - I didn't start this part until June 4

2. Fail, but the shoulder is healing on its own anyway. Normal activity is more exercise than the exercises, though, and I'm not doing physical therapy with doctors okay.

3. Success. Been off the antiinflammatories since about the time of this writing and the stomach is getting back to normal.

  4. Use at least one sick day and one comp day since i worked every weekend in may. - fail, took sick day but comp day never happened even though it was promised. will just have to use sick days as comp days.

Great job! And, I'd love to know where you found that pays 5% if you might be willing to share :)

LOL, I failed all of mine. Whole30 was more like Whole4. I don't think I biked to work once. And I'm not sure how much I made from side hustles, but definitely less than $500.
