Title: 1000 km by bike this season
Post by: lemanfan on May 26, 2017, 01:48:28 PM
Since summer seems to have hit my neck of the prarie I've started using the bike for exercise again.  Time to try to hit 1000 km before winter hits again?

this far, the distances are estimates, based on Google Maps.. should really get a bike computer or an app for my phone.

May total 68 km.

June  1st, 18 km, making the total 86 km.    914 to go.
June  3rd, 14 km, making the total 100 km.  900 to go.
June  4th, 14 km, making the total 114 km.  886 to go.
June  8th, 10 km, making the total 124 km.  876 to go.
June 10th, 15 km, making the total 139 km. 861 to go.
June 11th, 15 km, making the total 154 km. 846 to go.
June 24th,  3 km, making the total 157 km. 843 to go.
June 25th, 13 km, making the total 170 km. 830 to go.
June 26th, 4 km, making the total 174 km. 826 to go.

Anyone up to do this challenge?  I don't normally bike to work, so this is just pure exercise for me.

Download Strava for your phone. You can just use the free version for basic stats.

I'm way behind in miles for the year. We've had a lot of rain and wind, and a busy family schedule. Still, I'm at 1,179 miles, or 1,897 km for the year.

Thanks.  The basic functionality seems to be there, but oy vey so much social that I do not want. Way too much social, started identifying people in my contact circles.  Delete, delete, delete.

Sorry, I'm just antisocial.

If you're okay with spending a little money, buy a Sigma or CatEye speedometer off Amazon for $20-30. I feel they are more accurate with tracking distance and speed, if that is important to you, than phone apps.

I found an app called "Bike computer" that seems to do what I want. :)

I've been slacking with riding to work. I need to wake up 20-30 minutes earlier so I can ride there. It's only ~2.5 miles away.

I missed the habit for little over a week now, due to pain in my shoulder.  Now it's almost healed, time to get back on the horse. Bike.

According to Strava I'm at 1,995.9 miles so far this year (3212 km). A reduced travel schedule has helped...

And I dropped out of the habit.  Compensated by weight lifting.  Should really do both.  :)

I've averaged 200 km a week every week this year . . . I think that puts me around 6000 km.  (Sadly, even though I'm pretty meticulous about replacing chains and cassette I also had to replace a chain ring this year due to wear and slipping).  I'm hoping to get up to 10 k by the end of December.  :P

I'm at 997 miles this month but that's because I did a little crazy challenge on Thursday and biked to my brothers in South Dakota, 307 miles and made it 181 miles on the way home before I cried uncle and had to stop. Just couldn't sit on that seat any more without excruciating pain. Really had a good time doing it, 18.5 hours to get there. I was over 700 in February also, but that was indoors. More typically about 300-400 a month.

Just passed 2500 miles for the first three quarters of the year. Should get 3000 for the year even with the reduced sunlight & worse weather.
