I'm up to 25 consecutive pushups, yay!

I'm doing it a little differently than everyone else. I used to go to a boot camp where we'd do 100 in sets of 25 (I'd try), so I've been doing 100 in sets spread out over how ever long it takes in an evening. I'm up to sets of 25.

I'm a bit delayed, but for all of you guys offering advice:

I've started doing pushups for the first time since middle school gym class. I've slowly increased the number I'm able to do, but it's absolutely killing my wrists. I've watched a few YouTube videos and don't see a problem with my form; is this a fairly common issue or am I missing something?

It can be easier if you grab onto a dumbell on the floor, so that you can keep your wrist in a neutral position as you work on strength, and also do some flexibility exercises for your wrist (also useful if you end up in a fight with a jui-jitsu artist)

We are required to have a fitness test annually (in the Coast Guard, the other branches have very similar requirements),
in which you run a mile and a half in no more than 12:51, followed immediately by 30 push-ups and 38 sit-ups in one minute each.
I usually try for 60 push-ups in a minute.  The most I've ever done is 70 (a couple years ago), which is about the most there is time for in 60 seconds.
Its never even occurred to me see how many I could do consecutively with no time limit, but I'm sure its less than 100

Sweet... another Coastie!!  In my office, we've been cranking 75 per day as a group.  100 is tough, but worth a shot.

I did this last year with friends and got it tweaked over time so that we felt we were getting maximum gains without taking up too much time or getting too exhausted...

We were all in decent shape at the start, so 50 pushups per set was how we started. We did 50 pushups, 4 times a day Monday through Friday, at random times, wherever it was convenient. I even did some in a bank bathroom once...

We rested weekends, and every two weeks or so retested or max. My max starting out was around 75, and by the end of the 3 months I did 108.

We just started again this year, I'm in a lot worse shape than last year, so am only doing 40 per set... for now!

Go go go!!!

I first saw this idea here in February, but didn't sign up (officially). However, I've been sticking to it and I'm up to 35 at the beginning of week 4 after starting at 15. Pretty cool!! Can't wait to get to 100!

I thought I wouldn't be the first to tackle this and sure enough here it is....

Work has gotten busy again (long hours) and I'm spending a ton of time at my desk.  The time and facility needed to do pushups is always available given how short a burst it is, its not something that one set at a time is enough to cause you to sweat, and all you need is the floor beside your desk.  Last time I was this busy I would drop every hour and a half or so and do a set of pushups through the day.  I notice it wasnt long before my first set of the day I could hit 80+ without killing myself.  I recently heard of the 100 pushup challenge and so this gives me a specific goal as I do this again.

I'm diving in. I did 12 last night. Not sure what my game plan will be but probably something like a couple sets a day 3-4 days a week. We'll see.

YES I am so in. I think sets of 25 would be doable with the ultimate goal of 100 a day. I'll fit in as many as I can at night between about 7 and 10. I'm in good but not great shape. I've never tried this (more into cardio than lifting) so I'm interested to try it out tonight to see what my baseline will be.

I'm in the Army and typically the only time I see people do 100 push-ups on the PT test they have shitty form where most of them shouldn't count (i.e. they don't go down far enough and don't lock out their elbows when they come back up). I think my best score ever was around 60-65 at which point I'm at muscle failure. 100 is a laudable goal. Maybe now that I'm going to be moving into a private office at work I'll start working towards this. It doesn't take long to drop down and knock out 30-40.

I'm in as well!

I've been on and off with the hundred pushup challenge many times. My maximum was set last week when I did 66. I'm on week 5 on the training plan on hundredpushups.com.

I'll do a new test next week!

At work we train for the hundred pushup challenge every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Currently I'm working on week 5: https://hundredpushups.com/week5.html

Today I did (with 45 seconds pause between):

SetPushups
119
219
322
422
518
618
722
826 (Goal was 45)

It's so hard, but I'll continue working on it!
