Payroll Company Recommendations
« on: May 17, 2023, 08:36:28 AM »
I use SurePayRoll and they suck.  I got an overdue reemployment tax bill in the mail yesterday, emailed them about it, the lady said someone would get back to me.  They didn't. So I called the reemployment tax office and they said it was paid yesterday. Obviously because I told the company it was overdue.  ALSO the lady at the tax office said I do NOT need to even be paying that tax because I'm the only employee and the owner. I thought that, but SurePayroll told me I did, so I went through all that crap of registering or whatever.  Now since they did pay, I'm due that money and have to fill out and mail in a form to change my info!!!!!  And the lady I email at Surepayroll never once even has apologized in any way at all.

So I'm looking for another payroll company, but really I'd rather do it myself.  I could do the 941 quarterly using tax1099 .com, I've done that before.  I'd rather do something myself and know it's done, and done right.

Are you in the US? In a previous life I was the payroll administrator for a small business. We used www.payrollpartners.com They were always extremely knowledgeable and the customer service was fantastic. Based in TX, but have customers nationwide.

I've used Gusto for about two years with my S-Corp. I've been happy with them. I got some notices from the state about overpayments and just forwarded them to Gusto and they figured out the issue and fixed it with zero input from me. The only downside so far was they wouldn't handle my ERTC filing but tried to refer me to another company that was going to charge 10-15%. My CPA ended up charging about the same, but it would have been nice if they could have just amended the 914s on their own.

Here's a referral link that will get you $100 - https://gusto.com/d/michael67834

FWIW, we recommend Gusto. BTW Gusto has a program where they pay CPAs for referrals. But we don't take the "commission" just so we can say we're not influenced by that.

P.S. We used to do payroll for clients. But we couldn't compete with Gusto in terms of efficiency or price.

My Dh was pleased with Square when he owned his business. Only 2 employees, reasonable fees.

Owner/sole operator here. I second the use of Gusto. It's been seemly and easy since day one. It costs us $46/month.

Here's also my referral link if you decide to go with Gusto!
