Post by: arebelspy on June 30, 2015, 12:03:25 PM
The MadFIentist has a number of topics on tax optimization and (legal) avoidance/reduction.

His "archives" include a section called "Tax Avoidance" with the following topics (as of June 2015, he adds more all the time):
Retire Even Earlier Without Earning More or Spending Less
Traditional IRA vs. Roth IRA – The Final Battle
The Ultimate Retirement Account
Lab Rat and Assumptions
Semiretirement
Tax-Loss Harvesting
Tax-Gain Harvesting
Triple Value of Income
How to Hack Your HSA
Front-Loading
Roth IRA Horse Race
After-Tax Contributions and a Surprise Gift from the IRS

They are well worth checking out!

Good stuff, his archives would serve as a good Tax Optimization 101 course.

I agree these resources are great - I thought I was settled on my post retirement tax plan until I read The Power Of Zero which suggests taxes will increase dramatically in our future - this is something i've never seen MMM or MadFi ever consider/discuss but it seems like a valid argument to always chose Roth during our current low tax bracket world - see my post here and please let me know your thoughts;
