Hello and thx for reading. Thanks in large part to MMM and you lovely people, I'm early retired, sold my only rental property 3 bedroom in August after 10 years with a substantial six figure gain.  I've read extensively but this appears to be too deep for me to become proficient for this one time tax return.

Tips on who/what/where for tax preparation? Cost not important but I am extremely concerned about sharing all my financial info so here are my initial thoughts on how to proceed:

HR Block in person
Using an online service with a brand name tax prepare assistant.
Local tax preparer - this one makes me nervous.
Muddling through with software on my own.

Any tips on where to go or on things to look for when doing this.

Did someone buy the retiring tax preparer's clients? Maybe see if he can refer you to anyone. Does that make you more comfortable about using a tax preparer?

I would NOT use H&R Block. They are earned income credit tax preparers.

Thanks they did not have any recommendations except that he was hesitant about using HR Block.
