Receiving Lease Payments vs. Salary / Company Profits
« on: December 12, 2016, 01:29:18 PM »
So, my wife and I are starting a company that requires a significant amount of initial equipment investment  (~$200k).  Because of the laws pertaining to this line of business, medical field, she is the only one allowed to "own" this business, not me.  I technically personally own all the equipment, and she and her company provide the medical services.  From a tax perspective, would it be advantageous for me to collect "equipment lease payments" from her service providing company rather than receiving an arbitrary salary or having her claim all the corporate profits as income?  How are 'lease payments received' taxed?

Additional information:

-I am fully employed in another field.
-Her service providing company is a PLLC S-Corp.

Thanks!
