We filed a little before April 15th.  Haven't seen the refund yet.   But then the State hasn't seen a real budget in months and months and months.   Crazy state we live in !!!!!

we defected from Illinois last year, so this should be the last of them for me.

I filled in mid March, iirc, and we got our refund pretty fast. I suspect it's either A) they are working through the backlog, or B) they have literally run out of money or C) they are delaying refunds to cover cash flow problems.

We filed in Mid March as well and got ours in the middle of May.

I would guess they're out of money at this point.

According to the state govt:
Quote
Why are refunds taking longer for the 2016 tax filing season?
We are taking additional steps to protect Illinois taxpayers from identity theft and fraud. To ensure the security and confidentiality of taxpayer information, we have initiated a review process to combat against fraudulently filed returns. As a result of the new security measures, refunds may take longer to process this year than in previous years.
...
Is the refund delay related to the budget situation in Illinois?
No. Tax refunds are not subject to appropriation and, therefore, not being held up due to the absence of a state budget.
