In 2018 I over contributed to my 403B/401K accounts by $2.40. I noticed this when looking at the W2S when filing my 2018 taxes. So I contacted my 401k account and had the $2.40 taken out. When talking with Fidelity back in April 2019 when I was dealing with this, they said to file taxes as normal and then in 2019 enter in the info from the 1099R they will send me.
Fast forward to this year. I'm attempting to file taxes using HRBlock. When I entered the 1099R they said I needed to delete it and do an ammended 2018 return because the code on the 1099R has its from over contribution in 2018.
Has anyone delt with this before. I feel doing an ammened return is a bit much for $2.40. I'm not sure why it can't be entered in this year and pay whatever taxes I owe on it with this tax year. Any assistance or feedback is appreciated.
