I have been owing nearly $5k on my credit card at almost 20% interest.
I have had at least that amount in savings but I have been fooling myself that taking it out of savings will rob me of "my" money.
In contrast, bleeding a little bit every month in repayments would obviously cost me more.
Doing the adult thing has been a big mental step for me. I know my savings are now gone, but in reality they were gone when I made those (big) purchases. And no, they weren't really worth it, of course. (House cleaning services, tech gadgets and so on spent to try and make me feel better about life when I was having a bad time - I call it 'poor me spending')
I'm learning - that I can't have a line of credit like this.
So I'm closing the card and opening a new one with just a $2k limit which will be used for spending my money - NEVER the bank's!
