Winter Bike Commuting

We got 1+ inch of snow this morning, and I still biked the 11 miles to work. It took me an hour or so, but it is possible! Keep riding, folks!

Very badass, good work!

I biked in today on the coldest morning of the year in the area (21, wind chill of 15, yes I know many of you have had worse already!), and it really wasn't too bad.  However I will probably wuss out and drive the next two days.  There's supposed to be a nasty rain/sleet/ice mix, and, well, I'm not a masachist!

(Plus, I don't know how to bike in icy conditions)

Wow! Your tough! I dont even want to go for a walk in the snow. Once we hit below zero I flat out refuse. Guess I need to toughen up!

No snow here, but was 45°F and drizzling yesterday. My commute is 8.5 to 10 miles each way, depending on route.

Keep it going!

@No Mas -

The ride in was good - but the salt/sand mixture got me a bit dirty on E. Wash on the ride home.  You stay on trails?

My commute is a mix of streets and trails. I live near Oscar Mayer and work in Fitchburg, so I get a healthy chunk of the Cap City Trail, but I also ride all streets through the isthmus and the entire length of Rimrock Road.

In my perfect world, pavement is only plowed, no sand and salt ever used. It would be a biker's paradise!
