Washing machine valve started to leak one night; found the drum with two inches of water in it.
Opened up the machine myself, figured out how to remove the valve parts (and found the sprayer in the drum was completely corroded. Ew.)
Went to the local appliance parts place and asked for the parts; the nice man couldn't find the part numbers at first (from their supplier, not the manufacturer of the washing machine). Eventually found them on a big box store website for 10% more then I found earlier. Discovered he could finally order them from his supplier, but his boss had to place the order, and he wouldn't be back until Saturday. I declined to buy the parts, and he gave me a coupon for free pizza from a local shop.
Went home, ordered the parts online from the manufacturer's website with 2 day shipping for less then the local store could order them for.
TL;DR: Found the parts for my washing machine online cheaper then the local repair shop, and got free pizza out of it.
