Title: used my wrenches instead of amazon
Post by: livetogive on September 24, 2013, 01:14:34 PM
When I have a problem with equipment my pre-mustachian instinct was to just replace the part if it was under $75-100 (seems so cheap, right?!?) and move on with life.  Motorcycle brakes & components, car trim, home improvement - you name it.

Case in point:  My bicycle cleats weren't releasing and I was falling over at intersections.

Right away I rushed to amazon and almost pulled the trigger on $18 easy release cleats...instead of merely adjusting the ones I already have.  DUH!

Super minor but still pumped!  Looking back I'm now wondering how much I could've saved by trying to adjust it first... (motorcycle clutch & sprag clutch comes to mind)

We can blame Amazon and their Prime service, right? They make it too easy. Ha, I'm guilty of the same some times. Mostly pre MMM but now I'm more apt to save a few dollars by making an old part work. Although it's not hard justifying new parts.
