So, my dear new Ting-subscribed Samsung Nexus S 4G smartphone got wet a couple weeks ago (yes, it fell in a toilet -- and was briefly completely submerged in *clean* water) but had seemed fine and only stopped functioning yesterday. It wouldn't hold a charge and then finally just went black and couldn't be revived. I Googled around to see if water necessarily always kills a cell-phone battery, and I found this hack, involving removing the little piece of tape (or whatever it is) on the battery that turns red when moisture is present. As per the instructions, I just scratched that tape stuff with my fingernail and replaced it with a tiny little piece of paper. And voilą, the phone started right up and charged successfully. I wonder how many "dead" cell phones aren't really dead? Here is a link:
