Spaying my pup
« on: June 10, 2016, 04:58:12 AM »
Where we live, our county government has a little known program that we have jumped all over.  I am about to drop our 7 month old puppy at a vet, where she will be spayed, inoculated with what she is missing, de-wormed if needed, and microchipped.  For $20.00.  Boom!

Me too!
Great job though! Not just finding an inexpensive way to spay, but getting her spayed at all. You'd be surprised how many people still don't realize the importance. ("But I don't want her to go her whole life without knowing what motherhood feels like." "But he won't feel as manly without his balls.")

Ugh, this.  Unless you're a responsible breeder with specific plans to breed, not spaying/neutering at the appropriate time is idiotic.  And intact bitches can have issues past a certain age if they *don't* breed.

I too was a bit afraid this was a DIY deal...now I'm just baffled by the link above. Seriously, testicular implants to preserve a dog's "self-esteem"?

Dear God.  At first I thought it was something that would sterilize without changing anything hormonally which I could kind of get I suppose, but it's just cosmetic!  What the fuck?

That website is such a winner. And the customer testimonials. Wow.

Not going to lie, I REALLY want some of those Neuticals stickers as practical jokes. (But only if I didn't have to pay for them.)

But now I'm thinking, it's a stupid product, but is it better than not getting your pet neutered at all?

Yeah, that's where I come out.

I had a neighbor who got them for his dog, which his gf neutered over his opposition.  Same dude who was EXTREMELY bothered by my (huge, male) dog having a collar with flowers on it, because it would "confuse" him.  A stupid argument for so many reasons!  Dogs don't think of flowers as feminine!  Dogs dont have our ideas of gender! MY DOG CANNOT SEE HIS OWN COLLAR. Also, it was a nice collar, and it came for free when I adopted him.  He still has it 7 years later, and now the red is turning pink, which is very upsetting to my dog.

Do the other dogs force your dog to pee on the poles corresponding to his birth gender, or allow him to pee wherever he wants?  :P

Hey, if a boy dog wants to squat or a girl dog wants to lift, who am I to judge?

My bitch tries to mark trees up high, but just contorts her ass sideways and up instead of raising her leg like a male dog. It's just a drippy mess. Thanks Obama!

Won't anyone think of the terrible impact all this will have on puppies?

I'm glad this was not in the DIY section of the forums.
