How long did you all have to wait for your old Sprint number to be transferred over to Ting? In other words, how long was the down-time without any phone service? Ting says it could be a few hours to a day or so, which is a bit of a problem. My wife and I are on a family plan now which means we'd both have to cancel pretty much simultaneously, and we have no other means of instant communication. With an infant in the mix and jobs that require active phone service 24/7, this is a bit of a hurdle.
My bf switched from Sprint to Ting and his activation was seamless, taking about 4 hours before he was activated on Ting and ready to talk.
My son and I were on a Verizon family plan and I moved my number to Ting last month. It took about an hour before my phone was activated and ready. I left my son on Verizon (trying to stage having to pay the cancellation fee!).
Wednesday, right before bedtime, we ported my son's number to Ting from Verizon and when he woke up in the morning his phone was active and ready.
So, you can likely move one phone number now and the other next month. Or move both right before going to bed and wake up to a new service.
If this was helpful to you, please use my Ting referral code! ;)
