This is Sparta! (On bikes)
« on: December 22, 2014, 07:35:55 PM »
Hi everyone,

I'm going to apologize in advance if this sounds douch-y or showy - I'm just very proud of myself.

I recently made the transition from public transportation to biking, and thus far have been good about holding myself accountable to my new Mustachian standards. This was easy enough, with light 3.5 mile trips each way to uni, however today was a real kicker. Here are my trip stats.

Home to Bike Store (Minor Repairs + Repair kit. I will learn to do this myself in the future to increase my MMM-osity) --> 2.4M

Bike Store to Home ---> 2.4M (largely uphill)

Home to Friend's House for a Netflix date --> 3.3M (although I got lost on the way, so probably a tad more)

Friend's House to Uni --> 5.0M

Uni to Home --> 3.4M

------

Total Miles Traveled: 16.5

Had I done all this via my local transit, it would have cost me $12.50. Take that environment- (and 'stash) killing metro system!

That's a nice savings.  And all that bicycling is going to either get you or keep you in very good physical shape.

So... good for you!

You should be proud of yourself.  You are integrating your bike into your regular every day life.  The first few times are hard and require quite a bit of extra effort.  You made that effort so give yourself a big fanny pat on what is surely a more muscular fanny.
