This has been a really low spending month
« on: October 30, 2017, 02:37:20 AM »
This October is going to be my lowest spending month this whole year!

Usually I spend between 1600 USD in a typical low cost month and 1900 USD in a high cost month. This month I have only spent 950 USD and there is only one day of October left. And this includes buying a plane ticket and hiring a rental car for a vacation in December. So my ordinary costs are really low. I think it is a combination of me not spending much at all this month and the fact that most large bills for this year already have been paid earlier.

In the past 12 months I have also spent 12200 USD less than I spent in all 2016. All that goes straight into index funds.
My financial goal for 2017 was for me and my DH together to save more than 90800 USD, to beat last year's number. My personal part of it will be a lot higher than last year. I hope to save perhaps 45-50% more of my income than in 2016.

Edit: I cannot delete this post. I just realized that I hadn't imported my grocery spending for the last 2 weeks. Have done that now and my spending for this month has now grown to 1200 USD. So we are close to normal, just 100 USD under, and that is not so badass to open a new subject for it.
My spending for the last 12 months is now 22000 USD, against 34780 USD in 2016. That is still pretty good. And in the last 2 months of this year I am hoping to do even better, as we receive 50% of our income tax free in December (taxed earlier in the year).
I checked what I invested this year. I bought stocks for 38500 USD so far in 2017.

LOL!

Linda, that's too funny.  Still, even if this month hasn't been quite as good, there are a couple of pretty badass things in your post:

Those are pretty badass improvements, year over year (even accounting for a slight increase in the first bolded portion, to reflect your edit.)  So you go girl!  See how much you can get put away by year end, and post back with an up to date 2016 versus 2017 comparison.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
