So I took a transfer for work and decided it was a great time for some financial optimization. My wife and I agreed to take on a roommate (wife's little brother) and the condo we're renting puts me 8 miles from work vs. the 45miles I was commuting each way before. I'm estimating that the move will save around $500 per month! The other cool perk was that my boss surprised me with a 3% raise which equates to about 2k per year! Nice.
