Of cell phones and rodents
« on: June 19, 2014, 02:33:13 PM »
So to begin, I don't have a cell phone.

There's two..nay three...reasons for this.

1.  I'm cheap.  But really, now, with trak phones and other plans, this really could be overcome.

2.  I'm forgetful.  I had a trak phone, for a time, but I gave it up because I'd either forget to charge it or forget to carry it.  It was for emergencies only, and since those are, thankfully, rare, I'd forget all about my phone.  Eventually I gave up and got rid of it.

3.  I hate the phone, in general.  I have been, for many years, the phone answerer/receptionist at a variety of jobs.  I love e-mail.  I inwardly cringe when my phone at home (magicjack) rings.  I.hate.the.phone.

So this leads to me not having a cell phone.  It means I have to arrive on-time to appointments, plan ahead, and keep a closer eye on gas and car maintenance, but really, it's fine and doable.

So that's my first badass thing.  The second?

My husband has 'hunted' and prepared squirrel, and I have eaten it.  In the area in which we live, rich with acorns and other nut trees, we would be well supplied in the event of a total financial/infrastructure collapse.  But is it something I'd want to eat on a regular basis?  No.  It tastes fine but it weirds me out.  The kids love it, though.

I prefer email, too. Are you telling me that this portable email device I've been carrying around all this time does voice calls, too?
