Superbowl Sunday Bike Ride!
« on: February 08, 2014, 01:11:01 PM »
For those of us who don't care about the Superbowl*:

Take a road bike ride on Superbowl Sunday and enjoy a huge decrease in auto traffic while everyone else is inside eating chips and dip. Sorry I didn't post in time for this year; you'll see why below.

This year, GF and I unknowingly did this and noticed the nice open roads, then later found out it was the Superbowl. We remembered doing the same thing last year; now we have a new tradition!

*If you like the Superbowl, that's cool, nothing wrong with that.

When I lived in Colorado and California, I often went snowboarding on Super Bowl Sunday. I could normally do a half-day and get back in plenty of time for the game. Traffic on the hill and on the roads is at least 50% less.

It is indeed. Everything is still running with about 1/3 of the crowds.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
