Student loans GONE
« on: January 24, 2015, 09:23:59 PM »
Rejoice with me mustachians! My husband and I submitted our very last student loan payment last month!!!!!!!!!!

We are on a single income of less than 40k/year, but we have managed to pay off 62k in about 3.5 years by applying some mustachian principles to our spending :) We are so incredibly proud of our accomplishment. Now that we have our student loans kicked in the balls, we are in the process of saving for a house. SO HAPPY!!!

Really badass on a single income.  Pat yourselves on the back, treat yourself to a delicious home made meal, and look forward to that house

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Was there a couple of things that you did that you feel allowed you to reach that goal? I'm working with similar numbers (but just me on my income) and would love to learn from your success story.

Sweet! The feeling of being free from debt is amazing! I'm so glad you have wrestled the student loans down and forced them to surrender to your will!

And I congrats to bigalsmith101 as well!

Mine are done on February 2nd. 38k in 2 years, with the help of my lovely wife.

47k remaining on our mortgage. The wife turns 27 in May. Our goal is to pay it off before she turns 30. Not bad for two teachers.

Congrats! That's a determined couple. Once you go 3+ years with those principles, they basically become a part of you. You also learn how to enjoy each other's company without going out every other night.

Enjoy the freedom debt free living provides :)
