Student loan payoff
« on: April 06, 2018, 07:25:43 AM »
Started with @$80k way back when and have been steadily paying them down. Was not in any hurry as the low interest rate environment the past 10 years was favorable to investing excess monies elsewhere rather than paying them down (for most of that time, my rate was 2.33% or less). Now my rate is 3.28%, and likely to go up on July 1 this year when they reset my interest rate, as happens each year. So I've decided to sell some of our cash-equivalent account (GNMA Fund) to pay them off. So on or about next Tuesday, I will make a lump sum payment of @$8,500 and be done with them. It's gonna feel so good after all these years!
