I am happy to say that I've very rarely every paid for cable television or satellite service - I don't plan to ever again. I can remember the last time I had service... it was a meager $46/month, but that expense always bothered me a lot.
I think it's been 2 years since I canceled, so I'll chalk up $1104 savings since then.
My cell phone bill started out innocently enough... I think it was in the $35-45 range before I bought the smart phone and tacked on the data package. Then it was the switch to unlimited, because I was texting a lot, and a particular client had an affinity for talking through every issue. Somehow I ended up with a $100/month bill, which I successfully vanquished in June!
I now pay $31/month for pre-paid t-mobile, and it's awesome! Skype & google talk make up most of my outgoing calls, and I've trained most people to not expect me to answer if they call me. Add $414 of savings since June to my tally.
There are so many other examples that we could all share, not even related to the tech/entertainment products. For example, if my house refinance goes through, my payment will be $200/month less.
