Guys and gals,
I've done it....the transformation is complete. When my fiancée and I met, we were both in a fair amount of debt. She would whittle away at hers little by little while I was in full-on debt destroyer mode. After about 6 months of dating, we started talking in depth about finances and how much money we owed, how we were planning on paying it off, etc. Then I gently suggested that she could do herself a huge favor by being intentional with her finances and showed her some basic math and helped her create her first budget *teardrop*. She instantly became a force of nature and paid off her student loan to her parents in just under 2 years. She owed about $35,000 and made $38,000 a year. She killed it.
Which brings us to last night...we were discussing our financial plans now that we're both out of debt. We both agreed that we live quite a luxurious lifestyle even though we lived off half our income. We even thought we could scrub more out of our budgets. (If you've seen mine in a previous post, you'd agree) Being content with our spending, we both came to the realization that not only can we retire early, but we're happy the whole way there. She asked me to help her with her retirement accounts and really maximize her savings. I can't believe it...we're doing this!
