Simple Home Gym
« on: September 18, 2015, 03:15:10 AM »
So, about 2 months ago I set-up my very own, and very cost efficient home gym. It consists of very few items and my Environment:

1. A Cross Trainer. Got this one from my parents, who didnīt really use it and wanted to get rid of it anyways. Placed it in a lovely spot in my Apartment, and each of my daily workouts starts with one hour (at 250 watts) on this Baby.

2. An elastic band. Bought this one in a store for €10, Chose one that is very tough and meant for high intensity workouts. In combination with my own Body weight, this Kind of replaces 80% of all machines youīd find in a gym. Itīs a multifunctional miracle tool.

3. Yoga matt that a friend of mine didnīt need any more. Got this Baby for free, and use it for all ground exercises. Bit more comfortable than dragging my posterior on the bare floor.

4. A fixed bar in the garden that is used to put clothing lines hope I use the right word there...). I "abuse" this one as a pull-up bar. Best part: Itīs for free and outside.

With this beautiful set up and a smart workout plan, I have all the Tools I need to transform my Barrel into a sixpack from the comfort of my home :) What do you guys think`? What does your home gym look like?

Good start!
Here are my recommendations for a fully functional home gym (dependent on space & budget)

Equipment
Adjustable Dumbbells (5-50lbs is good enough: gym-talk.com/best-adjustable-dumbbells)
Adjustable Bench: olympicweightsetreview.com/top-8-best-adjustable-weight-bench-entry-heavy-duty
Set of Resistance Bands: Bodylastics.com
Stability Ball: askthetrainer.com/best-exercise-ball
Exercise Mat: bestexercisemats.org

Books/Diets/Wellness:
Scott Abel (personally one of the most complete, no b.s. expert on diet & nutrition. Abel Approach, Beyond Metabolism) scottabel.com
Dave Ruel (6 pack abs are created in the kitchen) anaboliccooking.com/welcome
Timothy Caulfield (how to recognize b.s in regards to fitness and health) amazon.com/The-Cure-Everything-Untangling-Happiness/dp/0807022071

There are much more to add but for anyone either getting started or to transition from a gym to home, you will get a lot of mileage out of the above list.
