Shaved 20 miles off my commute.
« on: May 12, 2014, 09:39:07 AM »
I made the big leap.  Just put in my 2 weeks notice to move to a job 20 miles closer to home.  Now I should be able to bike the 3 miles to work in no time.  Also, daycare is on the way, so just gotta track down a bike trailer!

Awesome! I'm envious!  I am looking for that job 20 miles closer that is on the way to daycare as we speak!

It might be hard to find a decent used trailer this time of year. A coworker had a really hard time, but hopefully you'll have better luck :)

So many good bike routes around here!

Yeah, I saw a few great deals on Craigslist this winter. I really wish I would have nabbed those up when I saw them!  Unfortunately I didn't know I'd be needing one so soon.

Is your kid small enough for a bike seat?

BTW, speaking of bike seats.  I highly recommend the Co-Rider.  It's safe, and really well made.

She's 10 mos old.  I haven't looked into bike seats, but that is a good idea.  It may be tricky to convince the wife that it's safe though!  Luckily the route to work is save.

Side Note: It's great to see some Milwaukeean Mustaches here!

There are two different meet up threads currently going, one for general get togethers, the other for our budding cycling club.

Yeah, a bike trailer seems a lot safer.  If you accidentally drop a tire off the bike path it could cause you to lose control and fall over.  Completely harmless to an adult but...

I've dropped a tire plenty of times for anyone who hates on this post.  When you bike a lot things like that are bound to happen.

I was thinking the bike trailer would be the safer option. It also gives me a nifty thing to cart around groceries, and stuff from the hardware store.
