My parents are turning MMM...because of me!!

Wow, this is crazy! Apparently my parents started reading my blog and it REALLY affected them. My mom just texted me saying that they just cut their cable and land line service! Now they're asking me for more resources and advice- I'm stunned.

Oh thanks! I was just shocked that they had any response to it at all. I don't really talk to them about this stuff so I think they had no idea how much I was actually saving/how I was doing it.

That's awesome... My parents are all over the map.  They are MMM in some ways (eating-in, cheap hobbies, etc)... then do things that just boggle my mind.  5-10k watches, 20k vacations (on home equity loan), 30k renos when its unneeded... list goes on and on.

If I brought up my ideas they would think I lost my job or something, lol.

My parents are relatively frugal and pretty set in their ways, but they're excited for my journey to FI and generally humor me when I wax Mustachian.

Unlike my DW, they don't even tease me about being in a cult. :P

Congratulations!  I'm quite jealous.  My parents are crazy addict consumer bankrupt debt-riddled fun-loving larger-than-life disney fans.  I'm new to this blog and just starting to apply the wisdom.  Nonetheless, I've been sending my family links every day.  I strongly suspect they don't read them.  wa wa wa...

What a fun post to read. I've become somewhat of an evangelist (but not in an obnoxious way) amongst my friends and family about cutting back on consumption, and in some small and big ways I am witnessing folks change their ways. Two of my friends and my adult daughter made major lifestyle changes after discovering this blog through me and it's gratifying to see the results they've achieved. Other friends are openly starting to question their ways. Most of my friends are 50ish, so a pivot to less consumpion is natural in my age group. I'm just helping them along. A big pivot to Mustachianism can help a lot of them retire earlier and happier.
