$59,000 of $65,000 tax advantaged space filled
« on: October 19, 2016, 08:50:48 AM »
I'm fortunate enough to work at a place that offers a 457 plan alongside a 403b and I just did my annual run through to make sure we weren't going to go over on any of our contributions (wife has a 403b, our Roth IRAs) . Due to a job change and two raises I am far closer to maxing this out than I thought I would be. That doesn't count the 3.5% my wife contributes towards her pension which is supposed to be there when we retire (not holding my breath).

I have no doubt there are many badasses on here doing even more but I'm pretty happy with those numbers at 33. I also like how small our tax bill is

Congrats! Utilizing tax-advantaged accounts has greatly helped us on our road to FI.

This year we are on track to save in $87600 in tax-advantaged accounts in 2016:

Me:
18000 - Pretax 401k
6600 - HSA
5000 - Dependent Care FSA
15000 - Employer 401k match
20000 - Aftertax 401k rolled into Roth IRA

Wife:
18000 - Pretax 401k
5000 - Employer 401k match

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
