Saving money on flea preventitive
« on: July 30, 2015, 03:29:54 PM »
I thought I'd share a great way to save on flea preventative if you have a cat(s) or small-medium dog(s). If you have extra large dog(s) then this won't work for you. I use Frontline Plus for my cats and small dogs but buy the stuff for the x-large dogs. The concentration isn't different for large dogs - they just send you a larger quantity for just a few dollars more. I measure it out with a syringe and get about 6 applications out of one applicator. I store the leftover in a small bottle.

This explains it in detail and includes measurements and what to buy and what not to buy (like not using frontline intended for cats on dogs):

The first part is for using Avantage and the second part is for using Frontline Plus.

Works with Comfortis, too. My cats get a very small bit of a big pill meant for our large dogs (with my vet's ok and assistance in figuring out the dosage). The dogs now get expensive collars that last eight months because that works out less for them and seems to deter mosquitoes and tick better, but the cats are going strong on the dogs' leftover pills.
