Saving an Extra $120 Next Month
« on: December 15, 2014, 02:54:53 PM »
2 ways

1: My gas company offers a "budget billing" plan, which allows you to pay a flat fee every month to smooth out winter costs. It's automatically set at $130/month, but when I called today they told me I could change it to whatever I wanted. After calculating that I'd need to burn 400 therms to equal $130, and seeing I only burned 100 therms in the November/early December period, I decreased my bill amount to $75. Which is enough for 200 therms, just in case the wife gets cold. Savings: $55

2: Paying off new iPhones (I know, fancypants) to T-Mobile, reducing our monthly bill from $150 to $85. Savings: $65

We got the phone plan about a week before I read about Republic. Maybe in a few years when/if the iPhones break or get stolen or something.

We switched to Republic in November and love it. I had to wait for our contract with ATT to be up.

Every little bit helps, provided you save the additional monthly cash rather than spend it.  :)

Nice job.

I don't think that has any impact on your total yearly spending.  If you overpay they will refund it or keep a credit.  It's not savings, just freeing up liquidity.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
