Title: Save $200 on your electric bill!
Post by: ShavenLlama on August 23, 2012, 10:42:48 AM
So the other day I got some crap in the mail inviting me to a seminar to learn how I can save over $200/ month on my electric bill by installing solar paneling (low financing available!). They estimate my electric bill to be about $250/ month based on my 2000sqft home.

WHAAAAAAT?????

So the next envelope was my electric bill- $45.

Suck it, Edison!

Yeah, I just love those guys.  (My electric runs $40-45/month.)  Then there are the ones promising to cut X hundreds of dollars from my car insurance, etc, when X is more than I'm actually paying.

A few years ago someone (forget now who) was calling around saying they could guarantee they could save you money on long distance.  Mom told them they couldn't.  You could hear them sharpening their pencil as they sayd, ok how much do you spend a month?  Mom said 'I'm on a family plan with my daughter and she pays for it, so it's free'.  They said 'oh' and hung up.  This was before the family plans were as popular as they are now, and most folks still had land lines.

I always get a hardy laugh whenever I encounter a 'Save X number of dollars!' More often than not, my expense is lower than what they promise.
