Ripped up carpet and painted floors
« on: January 02, 2014, 09:32:57 AM »
House was a foreclosure, then rental, then?? I have allergies and hate carpet, so other than one small area, I ripped it all out. Well, I ripped it out of the master bedroom and paid someone $20 to do the rest of it. I put down a paper bag floor in the master and painted the other bedrooms, hallway and stairs.
I'm waiting until it warms up to paint over the paper bag floor in the master.
I'm also juuuuust about to rip out my grass and put in rocks. I currently pay $80/mo to someone to cut it. Why?? I also have to water it (or get a nastygram).
Seems to me that in my current climate that is the height of nonsense.

Love this blog.

Good job!  I have always loved the look of painted floors.  I really don't like how much water is wasted so that people can have pretty green lawns.  That is why I like the Grow Food Not Lawns movement: http://www.foodnotlawns.com/

Good for you!  I hate carpet with a passion, so fully support getting rid of it!  Any chance you'll post pics of your painted floor?

Anything is better than carpet, for so many reasons.  I designed and built my home with concrete bottom floor and marmoleum upper floor.  1 secondhand rug in the living room part of the downstairs, for the cats of course.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
