Last week, high winds blew off two sections of our ridge vent. We have a steep pitched roof, greater than 12/12 and impossible to walk on. I’ve done a bit of wall and rock climbing a handful of times over the years, by no means am I a regular climber, but I do have a bit of gear, so I set up a rope, climbed up and reattached the ridge vent. Turned out to be harder than I thought it would be, but I pressed on and got it done, with the help of my wife and son passing things up. Two days later and my body still hurts. Might never get up there again, but for a moment, I was a true badass.
